East Tower - Akio (East Tower Series Vol.1) is a romance visual novel with light adventure and mystery elements. This review covers the Akio route and contains only minor spoilers related to its overall structure and themes.
PRESENTATION

Art:
Sprites: The character sprites are generally decent, but one thing I couldn’t unsee was how some characters appear to have tiny ears or no ears at all. It’s a small detail, but it occasionally made the artwork look a little odd. CGs: The CG quality is inconsistent. While some illustrations look great, others have awkward body proportions that distracted me from the scene. Background: The backgrounds become repetitive, especially during the East Tower stages. Many locations reuse the same architectural assets and green backdrop, making the environments blend together after a while. Although the artwork itself is serviceable, the heavy asset reuse makes exploration feel less visually interesting. Music & Sound Effects: The background music fits each scene well and never feels out of place. Sound effects are also used appropriately, although there were …
2/10
I really liked the idea of dreamworld. It is an interesting concept that made want to know more about the story. The character of Akio is the basic archetype of the cold, rich otome love interest, which is executed decently. The length of the game is lacking compared to the full price, so I recommend getting while it is still on sale. The art is fine. In my opinion the voice acting was great and the pacing of the romatic moments was pretty good. I never found myself bored throughout and there were many funny and cute moments. The female lead had her own character arc, and even tho it felt pretty rushed, the fact she actually had her personality and flaws made her automatically more likeable then many other otome MCs. Overall I really enjoyed playing it and it did a good job as the first installment in the East Tower series.
Nothing connected with me. It felt like the outline of one rather than a proper story. Basically, it desperately needed to be more fleshed out.
