About Entropy

In this dying age, only pockets of humanity remain. There was no apocalyptic event to speak of; only the cruel march of time and the inexplicable infertility of the world. Accursed creatures stalk the barren lands between settlements, which are themselves terrible places; squalid, medieval and mostly ruled by tyrants.
Our story begins in the town of Draenog, where the theatre performance you are putting on is interrupted by fighting at the gates. Demons have arrived. Your wooden sword will have to do for now, gather the troupe and defend yourselves!
Entropy is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game with an expansive world map, explorable towns filled with colorful characters, and a tactical turn-based battle system.

KEY FEATURES

  • Embark on a quest across the lands to stop the demonic incursion.
  • Control your party of up to 6 characters.
  • Hire Mercenaries to replace your fallen party members.
  • Tactical Turn-Based Combat.
  • Explore a world full of unique characters, creatures, challenges, and treasure.
  • Level up your characters, increase your stats, and unlock new perks.
  • A beautiful retro 3D aesthetic.

10OCT2026 - REFUNDED tl;dr "4/10, bought on sale and it was neat but it's juuuuuust frustrating enough to refund. Cool ideas, but poor execution." IN DETAIL: PROS: -Neat worldbuilding -Cool lore -uhhh, mushrooms I guess -Neat character profiles and sprites, I appreciate the work that went into making even mundane "junk" starter equipment have a bit of story and vibe to it. CONS: -Slow combat animations -Basically zero cosmetic choices, maybe that's a thing later but I'm at the 2 hour mark. -Lots of menu clicking. Imagine telling four party members to attack an enemy, and every time they do so you have to click the attack menu, click the type of attack, then move the cursor across the screen to select the enemy to attack, and the hitboxes are not very friendly to this. -The camera isn't very good both inside and outside combat. In some areas the camera will automatically pan over to a specific point of focus in an area, but it's disorienting because your character's WASD movement is dependent on it and will shift when the camera angle changes, meaning you'll be wandering across some areas and then bumping into walls when the camera moves. -Seriously, the camera's annoying. I h…

I pretty deeply dislike playing early access games, but it's a credit to how deeply I fell in love with Dread Delusion that I felt like giving Entropy a go. This clearly has the spark of something phenomenal and already has some great storytelling in it, with an even stronger voice. It's very much its own entity pulling from its own influences, illustrated by the much more JRPG-appropriate villain than the brooding, very human antagonist that was Vela. At the same time, the two games definitely feel like they're in conversation and the parallels being drawn seem ripe for subverting in interesting ways down the line. Dread Delusion really hit its stride as it got somehow weirder and more existential in its back half, and I believe Entropy will do the same - and that what's already here will be polished further. The biggest blind spot at the moment is the lack of dialogue and engagement with your mercenaries - I had a great time on hard mode and agree that it's the way to experience this, but I think it could be even better if I were given more reason to emotionally attach to my team and bond with them in some way at campfires. Five hours got me through all the available content, a…

Immediate Summoner and Summoner 2 vibes by Volition out of this (which is wonderful since Summoner 2 is my all-time favorite western RPG and Volition doesn't even know who own the rights to the franchise anymore). Same peak writing and worldbuilding as Dread Delusion, wonderful camera work (occasional forced perspectives), music that STILL hasn't stop playing in my head, and a little bit of Fear & Hunger with the ability to target body parts. That being said Entropy is not remotely as difficult as F&H, and some mechanics feel like they might not be fully fleshed out by the time you finish Act 1 (end of the current Early Access) but shouldn't be hard to implement fully later on. EDIT: after replaying from the start, many mechanics are mentioned in a single line of exposition and then are not visible anywhere in the menus. This information needs to be peppered several more places so people can actually recall and reference it. I initially thought Courage wasn't actually implemented but then I saw the tutorial text after starting again and began noticing hit chance numbers change over the course of fights. Similarly, I highly advise turning on the information windows during combat…

Entropy has a great visual style and the character art is amazing. I love the Jrpg influences and the Wizardry party building mechanics. I have just made it to the first large town and am starting to get character perks and se myself spending a lot of time with this game. If you are a fan of Rpgs please play this game.
