About Explorers of Esmar

Word has spread of Esmar, a new island continent brimming with untold riches and ancient secrets. Adventurers, explorers, and conquerors from every corner of the world set sail to claim their destiny. Will they establish a thriving colony, uncover hidden mysteries, and forge their legend in the annals of history?
The uncharted lands of Esmar await your command. Welcome to Explorers of Esmar!

Build and Expand Your Settlement

Begin your journey by establishing a thriving settlement from the ground up. Construct a variety of production facilities such as woodcutters, stonecutters, sawmills, mines, and farms to create a robust and efficient economy. Master the art of production chains to ensure your resources flow seamlessly, enabling rapid growth and development.

Population Growth and Housing

Increase your population by building residential houses, bringing new settlers to your domain. These valuable helpers are essential for transporting goods across your settlement, ensuring the smooth operation of your production chains. They will automatically get assigned to become specialized workers, driving the efficiency of your facilities. When the time comes, these settlers can also be trained and transformed into soldiers, ready to defend your land and expand your territory. Proper management of your population is key to maintaining a thriving and adaptable settlement.

Territory Expansion

Expand your territory by strategically placing watchtowers to secure new lands. Push your boundaries further by conquering enemy watchtowers, asserting your dominance, and gaining valuable resources and strategic advantages. You can only build and collect resources within your own territory!

Play Modes

Challenge your friends or players from around the globe in intense multiplayer battles. Or play against the AI. Or both, whatever you like! A single player campaign might be added at a later stage in the development.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's potential and nostalgic Settlers-inspired gameplay with solid foundational mechanics, but criticize it as barebones early access lacking features from Settlers 3, limited content options, and frustrating camera controls including slow edge scrolling and awkward middle-mouse panning. Common complaints also include map size constraints, sparse iron ore spawning, and an overly punishing military tower system where losing territory causes instant building destruction.

It is a clone of Settlers 2, leaning for 3, although Settlers 2 was much better. What's wrong? 1. the edge of screen scroll is frustratingly slow at max speed 2. the mouse moves over the edge to the other monitor 3. holding the middle mouse to scroll feels heavy and moving the mouse a meter moves the screen only so little 4. holding the mouse on minimap moves the screen faster but is far and causes the screen to tear 5. placing a building gives a silly animation where the building "comes from the top right corner" which basically only takes time and moves the screen 6. the military towers only give a *VERY SMALL* new area and demolishing or unoccupying the ones in the center make the territory instantly into "enemy territory" that makes all your buildings explode 7. there is not much room, and everything is swallowed up by the military towers 8. all your production buildings must be *tightly* packed and optimized or you run out of space instantly 9. or you expand with military buildings that give minimal space and take up your soldiers. Think of S2 and divide by two twice and that's the space you get. 10. the roads don't seem to "develop" and are easily built over 11. the military…

So far so good. Has simpler economic mechanics compared to Settlers 3 which makes it easier for newer players to understand the genre. Not in a rush, but hoping to see better / smarter AI. I would like to see the AI expanding a lot more and building a more decent army to make it more of a challenge. We need a more difficult "HARD A.I"

Explorers of Esmar! 3 out of 10 As an early release, it may have some potential. However, it is lacking most basic things this style of game should have to start out as early release. It's cheap so buy for some quick fun but don't expect much! Very basic and bare bones right now! One option for play through currently as Skirmish, no campaigns (yet) there is a place holder for campaigns.  Once you select campaigns you have very limited options for playing: can't change game pace yet, max players are 1-8 currently, Map size = tiny, small, medium, large and huge ( no random options) map preset = island, central lake, deep forest, desert and mountains ( no random options). There is only one faction for everything so far = Romans. Once you start the game, it's very basic for building options currently, doesn't take long to build everything and no upgrading! The land expansion system needs improved. It requires towers to expand your area and each tower needs a military unit in it. Tower has a small circular area it changes to your territory and you can't build outside your territory. So, if you are in mountains with many rocky formations and can't build a tower, good luck! If you dest…

I loved settlers 3. This game lacks the features Settlers 3 had. Overall the game was alright. Hoping the best for the future.

It's a fun game and has good bones. I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops over time. I think the spawn rate of iron is too low, most of the game seems to go by before I find an iron vein. Most other resources have reasonable spawn rates from what I've noticed. If there was a speed toggle that would be great, it would help move things along in the early game. I'd also like to see a cavalry unit at some point, maybe the game starts with one so you can better scout the terrain around you. Overall I'm having fun so far and I'm looking forward to getting deeper in.
