About Flowstone Saga

Unique Battle System!

Fight monsters in a truly unique puzzle-based battle system! Using the power of falling blocks, weave together powerful combo attacks, use elemental powers, throw items, sabotage enemy attacks, and grow in power to thwart everything from lowly Beewis and Cookie Ferrets to Craggans and Battle-Axolotls.

Flowstone Saga has real-time or optional turn-based combat where you face off against up to 3 monsters at once. While monsters act automatically, the main character - Mirai - controls the flow of battle on the puzzle board.

By clearing lines, you'll deal damage to a monster with a regular attack. Clear multiple lines at once for much more powerful blows. But this is just the beginning!

You'll need to carefully match the Link Crystals that appear to build up Heat and increase damage, clear helpful Orbs to heal yourself or trigger special attacks, use the Flask to throw powerful item effects on to the board, and defend yourself from deadly monsters. For every ability you have, monsters bring their own to the table: they'll ruin your board (and your HP) with attacks like fire breath, paralysis, sandstorms, lasers that destroy tiles, and much more.

You'll also unlock Powers that allow you to infuse the board with elemental magic like Fire, Ice, and Lightning, hurl pieces directly at enemies, create giant pieces, repair your board, and enhance combos. Combined with lots of build-enhancing equipment, a customizable Flask, passive Perk tree and even a Job (Frog) System, tons of unique strategies are possible. This is unlike any RPG or puzzle game you've played!

With this system, you'll have to use your wits & tactics to create the best strategy for each encounter... and the battle scenario can change at any moment!

Hold Mode

Want to focus more on precision without any time pressure? You can switch to Hold Mode at any time, which changes the flow of battle into a turn-based style!

In Hold Mode, blocks do not fall at all: you get to move them at your leisure. Enemies will not attack in real-time either. Instead, every time you lock a piece into place, enemy action bars will tick up slightly. You'll see exactly how many pieces are left before they get a turn, so you can plan out your tactics in peace.

We've taken care to make sure Flowstone Saga is just as balanced & fun in Hold Mode as it is in real-time, so that even puzzle novices can enjoy the richness of the game's RPG systems!

A Grand Story

In the sleepy backwaters of Ocean's End, a young adventurer and her stalwart pet Sprig stumble on an ancient power hidden beneath long-forgotten ruins. With it, Mirai can harness the power to repair, build, and... fight.

A grand story will unfold: Mirai will use these new powers to help build her home of New Riverstone, face growing threats like the Scarlet Tusk Pirates and Byzankar Empire, hunt for treasure across mountains, forests, temples, and ruins, and forge new friendships with people (and animals) across the world. Perhaps, the secrets of her past will finally be revealed as well...

Town of New Riverstone

Befriend charming characters, helping them to build and expand the town of New Riverstone by completing main & side quests. You'll also find a variety of decorative items in shops and dungeons which you can use to personalize your house, as well as spruce up any area of town with new trees, statues, water features, and more.

Find the resources you need by venturing into dangerous areas, or jump into the Mines with Hagan: a fast-paced minigame where the more lines you clear, the more resources you'll find. But hurry, you only have 2 minutes!

Once you build the Bistro, you'll get to know the people of New Riverstone better: learn their stories, listen to their concerns, build your relationship, and unlock powerful battle effects by Buddying Up with your best friend.

Exploration and Puzzle Solving

Explore the islands of Ocean's End, search for treasure, gather resources, solve ancient puzzles, and unravel mysteries across dozens of handcrafted maps and dungeons.

Throughout the world, you'll encounter mysterious structures that only Mirai can restore using her unique powers. These range from essential objects needed to progress through the game, like ladders or bridges, to optional structures that yield rewards such as gold & experience, to hidden areas requiring specific powers (with special bonuses to match!)

Deadly Enemies

Mirai and her friends have plenty of abilities and items, but monsters have their own powers! From swapping blocks to sapping life, removing tiles, tossing boulders, blinding effects, and paralysis, no two encounters are alike!
  • Sturdy Jade Beetles react to attacks by sending Armor Tiles on to the board, protecting these bugs from most damage until the tiles are cleared.
  • Weepy Bawliflowers support their big brother Brawliflower with healing magic, but if the healer is defeated, big bro gets enraged!
  • Stalwart Axolittles slashing attacks deal damage and can chop tiles off the board, leaving pesky holes and disrupting your strategy.
  • Aggressive Floracondas throw thorny shields on top of an existing section of the board, which will damage YOU if you clear them.
  • The mighty TumTum Frog will eat your biggest attacks, nullifying them completely and spitting them back out! But while he's full, you have the chance to deal extra damage!
  • Pirate captain Borras smashes holes in the board, making you unable to clear lines in those areas!
  • Pesky Bone Crabs snip and snap at you, making it impossible to rotate pieces for a brief time.

Co-Op Assist Mode

Another local player can join the fun in our drop-in, drop-out two player assist mode! With a second input device attached, the second player gets their own action bar in battle that recharges when the main character's bar does. The second player can then take battle actions like tossing beneficial items on to the board, buffing the hero, stunning monsters, or throwing trash at them to deal damage.

It's a great way to get an edge in battle!

What Else?!

  • Immerse yourself in a grand story that begins with the discovery of an ancient power, and grows to encompass a continent-wide conflict
  • Customize your experience with multiple difficulty settings; enjoy a more relaxed, story-driven playthrough, OR push your puzzle & tactical skills to their limits
  • Feast your eyes on lush, stunningly-detailed pixel art including huge monster sprites, gorgeous backgrounds, and expressive animations
  • Rock out to an epic, adventurous soundtrack with over 70 songs, featuring live performances by world-class musicians

✦ AI summary

Players praise the creative blend of Tetris and JRPG mechanics, charming character designs, and dynamic music, with some highlighting the developer's exceptional customer service when addressing game-breaking bugs. However, frequent crashes throughout the game are a significant complaint, particularly softlocks during credits sequences and boss fights that force players to replay sections, and several feel the RPG and story elements are weak compared to the engaging battle system. The game is generally seen as a decent, fun weekend experience despite these technical issues and design inconsist

It starts out charming and you can't go wrong with Tetris, but this one overstays it's welcome. The story is dry and overwritten, late game trash fights become a slog, and bosses are easy. Come for Tetris, but be prepared to bow out from boredom after a few hours.

It's a jRPG where the battle system is Tetris, what's not to love? Bonus points for packing a great amount of gameplay mechanics to the battle system to keep it fresh all the time.

A JPRG with Tetris-like core gameplay mechanics?! I'm in!

A cute JRPG-type game with some tetris battle mechanics. Combat is fun and the story and characters are interesting. Also, there is a cute fox companion.

Its almost great, but rough edges and little things that personally annoy me keep me from really liking this game. Text constantly covering up my piece at the top of the board, how you cant buffer a piece from locking by rotating or moving it back and forth, the lack of t spins or kicks. no drop shadow, all the pieces being the same color, i can go on. I think the biggest issue is the fact that if you let an enemy attack it dumps crap all over your board, so you need to just clear a single line to stop each attack. if you try and build up for a tetris, or the cool 5 line clear, you will almost always take at least one attack that messes up your board so you have to downstack anyway. There are all kinds of cool equipment with really neat effects, like doing more damage on a 5 line clear, so it's a shame just quickly clearing a line or 2 every couple seconds is the only viable strategy. Despite all this, they still made a tetris game where you level up, go down a skill tree, find gear, use skills and items, and its still pretty fun. P.S I don't know who got the idea that tetris would be better if there were pentaminos instead of tetraminos. just please stop. i hate them so much.…
