Really great game that definitely deserves more attention. There's lots of things to love about it, but the story and characters are especially good.

Very unique and interesting visual novel. It deserved way more attention at launch. It tells an engaging adventure about a land where people go when they can’t decide whether they want to live or die, stuck between life and death. It brings up heavy topics, like whether or not it’s okay for someone to choose to die. The characters in it have great chemistry, with a decent amount of funny banter between them. The character development is also pretty great, especially on the good route, where you save everyone and they overcome their past traumas and decide to live and move on. As for the RTS RPG segments, they were fun, if a little short. I’d say they make up about 10–20% of the game time, so it’s mostly a visual novel. Solid 7/10.

GilGul is part visual novel, part real-time strategy combat with light RPG elements. It really is an indie hidden gem and I hope it gets the attention it deserves! I really enjoyed the writing, mood and the character development. The story mixes light funny elements with darker themes to great effect. The strategy aspect of the gameplay is also very well done. The balance is sometimes a bit unequal, but when the more challenging fights come up, it's always a lot of fun to try and come up with an adequate strategy, tweaking the character builds, etc. All in all, I would fully recommend this game to players who are looking for a great story, for fans of visual novels, and fans of strategy games. Special mention to the soundtrack, especially the battle themes, that kept things fresh and engaging!

GiLGuL is one of those indie games that surprises you with how much heart it carries. The gameplay itself is simple, but it works well as a backdrop for the story, which is clearly the star of the show. The voice acting is excellent and brings a lot of weight to the characters, making the emotional moments feel genuine. The writing can feel a little raw, but that actually adds to its honesty, It feels like a story told straight from the heart rather than something over-polished. If you’re looking for a heartfelt, emotional journey with strong performances and a unique atmosphere, you should give it GiLGuL try.
