It was decently fun at start but the game becomes stale pretty quick. The item's don't add much variety to the gameplay. During progress, you're supposed to increase the difficulty which does some stuff + makes enemies healthier. Everything is a non issue except the health. It can be a real chore to push through because (for me) it was not uncommon to go through an entire run without any form of real damage upgrade. There are potions that either increase or decrease 2 stats that in my experience is never worth taking. Stat boost is nice, but a stat decrease can be a nightmare considering how little stat gain the game offers you in the first place. It's hard to recommend when you factor that the items aren't exciting nor do they help make runs feel unique, and how enemies eventually gets so much HP it becomes a pain without being lucky with damage items.

PROS: - The combat is fun, the combination of grid based and real-time is unique and the player feedback (visual/sound effects) makes fighting very satisfying. - The pixel art, animation and VFX are gorgeous, the game is an absolute pleasure to look at. - The boss fights are fair and well designed. - The difficulty curve is solid overall* - The available characters all seem viable and have unique playstyles. CONS: - Most of the progression systems, both inside and outside the run are just stat increases. They don't actually change the way you want to play or enable interesting builds/synergies. - Some of the mutually exclusive upgrades on the skill tree actively synergize with each other, which seems like an odd design decision to me. - Story content is locked behind the increased difficulty modes. - *Except the highest difficulty is imo frustratingly difficult and not worth playing. The jump from Eclipse to Total Eclipse is disproportionate and requires A LOT of skill and stars to align to reasonably complete. Overall I do think it's worth playing, especially on sale. It's very enjoyable for the first 10 hours or so, just don't expect the kind of replayability you'…

A very charming game, although it suffers a little bit from not enough information being explained and being rather unfair a lot of the time. Gameplay wise, I had a lot of fun all the way through, with the whole grid-system being quite engaging. Most bosses were very fun to learn the patterns for, and some are easily baitable to do specific attacks that might be more convenient to dodge or abuse for damage. The story is okay, typical fantasy "save the world from evil forces lurking in the depths" going on here. It gets the job done. Endings being gated behind harder difficulties is quite an odd choice though. While it may be manageable on the easier ones, Eclipse and Total Eclipse are a huge jump in difficulty (those alone took more than half of my total playtime to do). Enemies get so condensed on the harder difficulties that it becomes basically impossible to avoid damage, on top of some enemies teleporting right into attacking range out of player reach or moving away from you before attacking. They do a lot more damage as well, even with damage reduction (yay!!!!!!). Also, said enemies become faster than normal, meaning they can easily overwhelm you unless you have a wa…

Combat mechanics are pretty fun, but the game isn't very polished.

Controls feel clunky and take getting used to.
Character skills don't change much across the run. You level up within a run and are given choice of static upgrades, but they didn't vow me.
Upgrades are boring and also don't add much variety. In 3 runs I haven't see a single one has an interesting behavior or could create a strong synergy. They are all very safe.
Telegraphing/Visibility could be improved greatly as there are plenty of attacks that are either impossible to see in melee range or just don't look like threats with the color scheme.
Really fun , cute art style, unique grid based action. Not super high on build variety but the game just feels really good to play.
