Gumball Drift

A VR slotcar drifting type of game, it's priced too high for what it is. Needs to be below $10 to make it a recommend. Online against friends would be the go, still priced far to high buy in a bundle or on huge discount. Not recommended due to price.

VR play for this type of game is actually good and the game itself is fun. But, I can't recommend at this point. I think with some pretty minor game design tweaks, it could be excellent. Examples: The first couple tracks pay $5000 to win. Spend $20000 to unlock a new longer, harder track... and that pays $5000 to win. You can play tracks over and over without penalty. So... play the first easy track over and over is the best path forward. It also doesn't show what tracks you've won, or your best times, or anything like that. According to the lap counter, your first lap is lap 0 of 4, and your final lap is 3 of 4. Yep, finish lap 3 of 4, and the race is over. You do complete 4 laps, but they are simply numbered wrong. Was this game play tested? See the grass with the pylons in the screen shots? You can drive straight over that without any penalty. The AI doesn't cut the corner, so it's pretty hard to lose that race. Driving in dirt is way too slow. Cars are too fragile. A couple rubs and they blow up... but are immediately respawned in exactly the same spot. Odd gameplay choice. Steering doesn't seem to work unless you're on the gas. Again, odd. All of this see…

Still one of my favorites, after all these years. If I'm set up to do a session of seated VR games, you can be sure Gumball Drift will get some play. Super Sprint for VR, but the cars, instead of being tiny, feel like they're about the size of a brick. Get the drifting feel down and take it to town. I wish there'd been a follow up, Gumball Drift 2. Good fun.

It is a simple mini-world VR game and looks nice even though it is a 2016 released title. It doesn't support motion controllers, a gamepad is necessary. It has plenty of cute mini maps and nice toy car models to play with. For sure, there are similar and better games than this one. Mini Motor Racing X is one of them, much better than this one, because it is newer and has more variety and detailed. Yet, I still liked Gumball Drift too.

Played on a 2D screen Gumball Drift is still a fun game. While the whole game does lack depth the gameplay physics make it a lot more fun than you would first think and by the time you have played a few rounds you will be hooked (for a little while at least). But it is in VR this game really shines. With the whole track laid out like some sort of cartoon-style Scalextric set it instantly makes the game more fun! I still think this is overpriced given the lack of depth, but grab it in a sale and you will enjoy playing it. Throw in a multiplayer mode on top of that and you have yourself a good little game, provided you find it for a good little price.

It's a cool little top down racing game. It reminds of an old racing game I use to play on my OG GameBoy as a kid (cant remember the name). I enjoy the rc car type feel of the game play and I away have (see * Real World Racing). Its simple and ease to just pick up and play. I'm also glad they went with a play house style camera ( over looking the track and not following the car ) I wish more games would do this. tho I'm sad to say It lacks polish, and feels more like a moble game I would find on the app store. Instead of playing for an hour, your more likely to play for 5 min as a brake between super hot and beat saber. I think that makes the $20 a bit hard to swallow. The sound of the game can ware on you as well, with no in game sound track all your left with is odd hummm of the cars and the monotone fireworks at the end of the race.
