Hazel Sky

I was wholly unprepared for the amount of blood, gore, and just disturbing imagery in general there is in the first hour or so of the game. Now that I know what to look for, I can see a couple instances in the trailer and I see the developer warning about graphic content, but they're really underselling it. The popular user-defined tags also don't indicate anything about this disturbing/graphic content. When I got to a point where eating a psychoactive mushroom is required to progress, I noped out of there, uninstalled the game, and asked Steam for a refund. Not worth the few bucks I spent on it. Content aside, the gameplay was also not that enjoyable. I had many moments of frustration at my character not doing what I expected or wanted, in part because the controls were a bit clunky. Solutions to puzzles were not always apparent and sometimes I was annoyed that I couldn't do a thing that should've been possible given what was previously established by the game.

The game wasn't TERRIBLE, but it was much more linear than I expected. The puzzles are pretty straightforward, the story was mildly interesting, but not very compelling. There's a minor theme around music, but the actual game music is pretty simplistic. There was no decision making, no alternate paths, no character customization or improvement. The main character experiences zero growth throughout the story. The story builds it up to where you expect to have to make a choice at the end - a very obvious choice - and then doesn't let you make it at all. The gameplay wasn't bad, but don't expect too much complexity.

The whole thing is wrapped in some [b]Lost[/b]-like mystery (the TV series). With notes and objects left behind by people who came before me give each island a faintly haunted feeling. Enjoyed the story and environments. Nice atmosphere and decent puzzles.

Developer, why TF did you decide to go ahead with those voice actors instead of simply written dialogue. The game is already weird and nonsensical enough but every time one of the voice actors started talking I wanted to punch a hole thru my screen !!! If you have enemies to torture, gift them this game.
