Nah. Neat visual presentation and concept, but the aiming/shooting is a touch too jank and unsatisfying. The buildings used make it seem more like the hovercraft is tiny than the structures being massive.

Short game, cool style, a bit more empty than I had hoped for world design. Game is hyper focused on just grinding through the enemies. The narrative feels like it had more potential if it had picked one thing, but it seemed as if it was just a canvas for proposal of questions. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just had expected something more given the presentation. Music felt appropriate. Biggest complaints with the game were controls and the bosses. I played with controller, which needs an official control scheme and a bit of an overhaul. The steering feels horrendous and nothing feels presice. Not really sure it's receiving movement as analog. Second biggest complaint was that majority of the enemies felt they were down to luck rather than learning how they worked. This led to more than one occasion where I sat outside of the range and shot from afar until I landed enough shots to progress. At times where this wasn't possible it made these encounters far more frustrating just waiting for luck to be in my favor to progress. A lot of this I feel may have been avoidable had the steering been more positive. The lack of credits was a bit jarring oddly. At what was clearly the end,…

Good stuff, Would like to see more from the author. Had fun, and will probably replay in a year or two. Vibes above all with some interesting boss segments that were actually rather hair-raising. Hope to see more, indeed.

So I finally got my hands on a Playstation and played Shadow of the Colossus for the first time. Obliviously I yearned for more of it as it was such a great game (and me being a lover of boss rushes). Unfortunately for me there wasn't many games like it... To my surprise Hovercrafts x Nihilism debuted just a few days later :) Going with the vibes, it's SotC mixed with Ergo Proxy -especially the hover sail- and it's done well. I enjoyed the atmosphere while looking for the bosses. Both the "tracker" and boost are improved. And the most importantly, the bosses are good. Earlier ones are understandably easy but oh boy they pick up the pace after a while. Some of them even got me at the edge of my seat and clenching my teeth with frequent close calls. I really had fun fighting them and now I'm yearning for more, again. This game is great if you like Shadow of the Colossus, Evangelion, and the noise the microwave makes while you reheat leftovers from a frozen dinner that you made in the same microwave the day before. 14/15 because i do not like cubes.
