About Hunt: The Unknown Quarry

A bounty has been placed on the head of a monster terrorizing a small country town. Bounty hunters descend on the abandoned mansion where it is rumored to make its lair, each hoping to claim the prize. However, one of these hunters is actually the monster in disguise. One is forced to ask, then: who hunts whom?
Hunt: The Unknown Quarry is a deductive combat game for 3 to 6 players. One player is secretly the monster, and their goal is to cripple all of the other players in order to escape the mansion. The other players, the human bounty hunters, must discover and kill the monster before they are hunted down by the creature. Each player moves around the mansion’s many rooms to search for clues, gather items, and target other players to deduce which of them is the monster (or, if you are the monster, to wound the other bounty hunters). Tread lightly, for the hunt has begun…
Hunt: The Unknown Quarry features beautiful graphics and a finely crafted user interface that streamlines play and provides copious hints about what actions are available to the player as play progresses. It even has the option to automatically help the player take notes and zero in on the monster. Atmospheric music and carefully selected sound effects set the mood.

What Steam players say

Hunt: The Unknown Quarry receives sharply divided feedback, with most players criticizing its monetization model as deceptive—the free version is incomplete and heavily pushes players toward paying $15 for the full game, and the player base is essentially dead due to these practices. The core gameplay is described as a dumbed-down social deduction experience similar to Among Us or Cluedo with poor AI, clunky mechanics, limited content, and uninspired mission design that quickly becomes repetitive and tedious. A small minority appreciates the atmospheric elements, but the overwhelming consensus
"Hunt: The Unknown Quarry" is not a complete game. It's an advertisement/demo, and you have to pay more money through DLC to actually unlock the game. What do you get if you let the deceptive and shady marketing win and pay the DLC toll to unlock the game? Hunt: The Unknown Quarry is a boardgame ported to PC with disgusting pricing, and no players of course because of the aforementioned shady pricing practices. The idea behind the game is, well, a crap version of Among Us where one player is a monster and the other players roll some dice and work out who the baddy is. Social Deduction dumbed down and with an unappealing Cluedo-like veneer.. But remember... you don't get the full game unless you pay up.The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to shell out a whopping $15 USD to unlock content needed for the full game, and I don't recommend you do that either. What do you do in the game? Nothing, there's no servers because nobody fell for the crappy, misleading non-free advert marketing. For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static text/images... it might as well be a web page. It's functionally no different from a browser …4 found this helpful
The game isn’t technically free — it keeps pushing you to buy the full version in-game. That aside, the game is essentially dead, as there’s no one playing it online.2 found this helpful
I like it.
