Species: Unknown is a first-person survival horror game, playable in co-op with up to 4 players (private or public servers) or solo. You play as a mercenary sent aboard an abandoned spaceship. Your job? Execute high-risk contracts, make it out alive, and claim your reward. But keep in mind that you’re not alone. Something is hunting you…
Form a squad of up to 4 players to take on different contracts with escalating difficulty. Each mission plays differently depending on your objective, your teammates, the map and which of the 5 intelligent threats is stalking you. No one survives alone, but you can try.
Proximity Chat & Radio are available: distance matters, walls matter. Proximity Chat is bringing more tension, sometimes chaos, and unforgettable moments to your co-op sessions. Every contract drops you into a different nightmare. Whether you're tasked with extracting a black box, capturing or eliminating an unknown threat, or even destroying the ship to prevent the creature from escaping… Each mission demands a specific strategy and none of them are easy.The specimen is chosen procedurally from a growing roster of terrifying monsters. Each one comes with distinct behaviors, hunting patterns, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to investigate your surroundings to gather vital clues and identify the threat in order to proceed smoothly (or not). Do your job and get rewarded, or die without anyone knowing.Strategize as a group, make smart use of your tools that can turn the tide, if only for a moment:

Great game
Great game to play with friends, come for the monsters stay for the shared trauma of being chased by Glados from portal, a murder squirrel that can res the dead, machine gun kelly, Mostly Ghostly, Manface Mudbriar, and Squidward. Blow up the ship, extract the data, kill the specimen, or if you hate yourself, try to catch the specimen. This game can be as stressful as coming off a shift on the ambulance as you run for your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ life as glados picks off your friends one by one because nobody splits the party faster than a jackass that thinks they know the map, gets lost, and calls for help, or a guy that panics and leaves the party behind when theres an entire minute left on the count down til the ship blows. This game reminds you why you hated group projects in college. I had to overcome my pathologicial fear of zombies to save my partners bacon repeatedly. Also Mostly ghostly is a jealous lover, they will 100% pick a favorite and then kill your lover out of spite. 12/10. Cant wait for more ships and more aliens to research.
this game is fun with friends and has amazing graphics.
Its just one map, but even then with the different creatures, tasks, and a full group of friends it's a such a fun time. My friends and I really liked the game.
phasmophobic alien sequence
I don't write reviews very often but this is one of those outliers that truly deserves the praise. I can't even begin to express how impressed I am with this game. I played my first mission on their demo by myself and when I tell you it was agonizingly terrifying in all the best ways it was just that. It was cinematic, it was well paced, the atmosphere was daunting and immersive it was perfect. I managed to get through my first mission and immediately bought the game. I then became a sales person for this game, wheeling and dealing my friends doing my best to convince them to get it. One by one they all began to cave in and try it. I now stream this game every other week with a team of 4 and we just have the best of times. It's very well balanced in my opinion I might add. My chat wanted me to try one of the hardest missions the game offered even though we were still new with very little upgrades under our belt. The best part is I almost did it... The game balances difficulty well, it's not necessarily unfair punishment on harder difficulties like many games do, it just requires adaption and good teamwork and you will be surprised what you can accomplish.
