IF WE MAKE IT HOME.

IF WE MAKE IT HOME is light plagiarism at best. The game requires no play whatsoever and will cycle through its narrative without the player doing anything. The game is also devoid of accessibility features and audio control entirely. My biggest gripe, and the reasoning behind my harsh words in this review largely comes from the stolen material found not only in this game but also in SEMU. In IF WE MAKE IT HOME, it comes across as dishonest when you screen grab the panels from the comic and trace over the key imagery that completes it. SEMU however doesn't once mention that the game is a direct narrative parallel to The Suit, and it flat out steals artwork and disguises it under a pixelated filter. To make matters worse the Dev also insists on positively reviewing his own games, even to the extent of making a Youtube video on it titled "The BEST HORROR INDIE GAME you've NEVER heard of!?" despite it literally including his face that is featured on his channel. I understand the grind, but it's not really on. If you would like to see this for yourself, look at the PinkHoody account featured both in these reviews and on Youtube. Just read the comic.

IF WE MAKE IT HOME. is a surprisingly disturbing little space thriller, mainly because its central idea is much darker than it first appears. I play as a lone astronaut stranded on a desolate planet with an advanced suit that has one overriding command to keep me alive. I liked how the game turns that seemingly helpful situation into something much more uncomfortable. The suit is the real heart of the experience. It does not simply protect me from the environment. It actively makes decisions about what needs to be removed, changed or consumed in order to preserve my life. I found that concept fascinating because the suit can technically be doing exactly what it was designed to do while still pushing me further away from being human. Exploration also has a nice sense of physicality. I can use a grapple hook and jetpack to move around the barren landscape, but every action consumes energy. I liked having to think about how much freedom I could afford because movement itself becomes part of the survival problem. The more I rely on the suit, the more uncomfortable I become with what it is willing to do for me. The atmosphere is easily my favorite part. The lonely planet, wind swept …

This game is about five minutes long, maybe less. It tries to build an atmosphere, but as soon as it starts, the game is over. What do you do? You walk. That´s it. You can use the Grappling hook or the Jet Boost, but there is no reason to do it. Yes, it is for free, but I have seen far better games with far more content than this (e.g. "Rhome" or "Serena"). You are better off playing these games. And why the f**k is there no option to quit the game? I have to Alt-Tab to quit.

its okay for a short free game, can be expanded into a bigger universe if wanted to but that's that
