OUR HEROES
Ika was the Captain of his flock - an ace flyer, skilled archer, and role model for the fledglings under his tutelage. Days before his flock's annual migration, he was severely injured on a scouting mission, resulting in the loss of his left wing. Flightless, he was abandoned by his people as they fled Winter's bitter grasp. On his unprecedented perilous trek, Ika discovers a child of an unfamiliar breed. He quickly finds the Creature is capable of magical feats, allowing him to progress far further than he ever could alone.Alone, they are powerless. But together, the duo can surmount any obstacle in their way.ABILITIES
Ika serves as the duo's muscle -- he is responsible for the platforming and item use in the game. While his loss of a wing resulted in his inability to fly, he can still jump and use his good wing to clear obstacles. The Creature is nimble and dexterous -- he is able to climb vines to reach greater heights and can fit in small spaces. But his small stature means he's unable to jump, and his weak arms prevent him from using the items that the duo craft. When the duo is united, they unlock the ability to craft items by combining the items they possess. Ika and the Creature can each hold one item, and combining them allows them to craft a new item to overcome obstacles in their path. There are dozens of combinations to discover and experiment with! The Creature has magical abilities that allow him to channel the things he eats into elemental power - use this ability wisely!Wielding the elements results in many new possible items to craft. Try to find all the combinations!SPEED IS KEY
Every level will give you a Star Ranking depending on how fast you beat it. This puts your puzzling abilities and your reflexes to the test to truly show your mastery!Enable the Timer in Options to keep track of your Star Progress in real time.Play your fastest to unlock every Star!P.S. Ika's Odyssey is a challenging puzzle platformer about a bird trying to find his flock... by foot. Beat it in 5.5 hours using a game controller and tons of patience. Difficulty is Medium to Med-hard. For a first-time game from Dongle Duck, this is a really good game. You use most of a game controller to play, with Ika being on the L, Ltrigger, and L3 side of things, and Ika's helper being on the R side. Using, combining, and swinging items, and jump are done with the right-hand colored buttons, throwing items and helper is done with L3. One L/R button picks up items (per character), and one L/R button drops item (also per character). Both Ljoystick and directional pad move the characters. If this sounds convoluted, it is. I had a very hard time getting a hang of the controls. Wish there was a way buttons were tightened up, but I can't think of one given how they're used. Another issue I kept running across was how small the platforms are. It's really easy to slide off platforms. The most frustrated I got was in the second act. And a third problem I had was one level was so dark I couldn't tell what was going on. playing during the night fixed this. Once I…3 found this helpful
