Bad game

This is a course clear puzzle game where you collect all of an item (eggs) to clear the stage. You have a limited amount of "powers," enemies, and environmental factors as your variables in the stages. After playing Rush and now this, I think I've realized I just don't enjoy Two Tribes' method of creating puzzles. This is the second time now where I've thought a game from them has the building blocks of a good game, but it just doesn't follow through. Just like Rush, I felt that a majority of the puzzles (quite a few of later normal, and almost all hard) are just not intuitive at all. Granted, maybe I'm just not good enough at visually planning multiple (sometimes tons) of steps ahead, but I just don't understand how you're supposed to figure out some of these without pure guess and check, which, like Rush, only gets you so far because it's easy to lead yourself in the wrong direction, and sometimes I think this game even has visual red-herrings. Hell, I feel like the rewind feature gives credence to my guess and check comment because it would be too annoying to restart every time you mess up. Toki Tori is a mobile game at heart, with clunky controls and boring gameplay. As others have mentioned, it even locks bonus levels behind developers' steam group membership. In a paid game, mind you. Something like this may be good on a mobile phone to entertain a child on the plane or to kill some time at the dentist office, but I see no reason to play it on PC when there are so many other better games out there.

I started playing this mostly out of obligation because I’ve heard amazing things about the 2nd one, but this was a surprisingly great level-based puzzler with tight design and fun mechanics. The final ‘normal’ level in particular was so fun to work through, and I’m currently going through some of the ‘hard’ levels (we’ll see how far I get), but the base game has been super satisfying.

So this is a nice fairly challenging puzzle game. - It can take little thinking and time to figure out the correct way to complete your level. It's fun though. - You should naturally unlock achievements as you proceed - Some you will have to go back for but it won't be much difficult. - It has nice visuals and music. - Controls are simple enough. - Good playtime value for the price. - Definitely worth it's sale price. Overall 7.5/10.
