About Incarnation

Incarnation is a mouse-only roguelike with reverse progression


Experience a divine entity's descent from the heavens through a series of procedurally generated levels. After each level, you must lose one of your celestial powers until you are completely transformed into a human.

Will you be able to reach mortality?


The game was developed as a graduation project in the Visual Communication department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. This version features Steam achievements.

There is so much to love about this game, but the controls are so bad I just can't be bothered with it. Having your character idle for 5 minutes to regain health is a bad mechanic. Starting over from scratch after every death is not fun. I'll check out this devs other games though because the style is amazing.

Only 57% positive for this gem, is lunacy! The game's an absolute vibe. with a unique concept, and FREE! 100%'ed in 1 hour, and it was a good hour. [This Dev only makes bangers FR]

So, overall, I really like this game. I love the concept of progression meaning I have to relinquish an ability or immunity, gaining mortality as I descend. I love the music and the art, from the glyphs to the angelic designs transitioning to forest and lions/wolves/humans being what attacks me. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'll be able to finish the game. Other reviews have pointed this out - while I'm pretty used to dealing with mouse only controls, and have been able to make it work for most of the game....once the only option left is to get rid of your 'Death Touch' ability, I have hit a huge wall. As the motion needed to deal damage also moves your character nearer to enemies, it basically ensures you take damage continuously as you attack - and since most enemies are faster, or able to jump further than you, if they can't outright fly/shoot projectiles, getting away from an enemy after attacking is also pretty hard. I'm going to keep plugging at it and trying to finish, see if I can find a way to actually make it work without Death Touch, and overall I've still enjoyed this game plenty - The concept, the presentation are all fantastic, and it's fairly short, enough that I…
