About Junkster

Junkster is an all-new 3D action platforming adventure with a unique building mechanic. When an intergalactic cargo ship crash-lands on a dangerous junkyard planet, it is up to a scrappy, little construction bot named UM-13, or UM for short, to save the day!Armed only with his trusty robo-wrench, UM must transform the galaxy’s useless garbage into slightly more functional garbage as he searches for the parts to repair his ship and recovers his lost cargo of precious human artifacts.
With a visual style that captures the retro vibe of 80's era American comicbooks, each action-packed issue sees Um go toe-to-robot-toe with hungry trash mutants and renegade bots. And as a special bonus, each exciting issue comes complete with a Junkster toy to add to your collection.

This game is worth the low entry fee, with its charming visuals, engaging puzzles, and awesome comic book narrative framing. It lasted me just over 7 hours for the core experience and not trying to 100% its collectibles. No performance issues whatsoever as well. The building mechanics were very easy to grasp and rarely gave me issues, except with trying to rotate triangle blocks...what a pain, but fortunately few levels have significant triangle block usage. I would like to have seen the new puzzle mechanics introduced in each level to reappear in subsequent levels more often than they did to enhance the sense of progression and challenge through the game. I also wish combat had any kind of depth to it. Junkster holds great sequel potential!

Underpriced. Controls are perfect and feel so good. Tutorials are clear and not overwhelming or annoying.

Not bad! Feels like playing something from the PS2/Wii era, in a way that tickles the nostalgia. I think the core controls feel good, and the building is largely brisk and intuitive. Level variety is also reasonably strong, and visual variety is, too. In general, Junkster's production values and length are higher than one would expect for the low pricetag, but the low confidence is explained by other things - the combat is *extremely shallow* and the puzzle-platforming is not terribly deep, either. I'd also note that while the collectibles probably did successfully extract another 1-2 hours of playtime out of me, I'm not sure the tradeoff was worth it; toward the end, I felt the game losing steam and just wanted to be done with it, and I may not have felt that if I'd just played with a faster pace to begin with. The sound design is very punchy, but its extremely "modern-game" style of boomy, chunky sounds borders on cloying. Again - it's not bad, I think it meets the expectations set by its trailer and screenshots. Nothing really wowed me, but it feels nice in the hands, and it's unique enough to be worth the time.

I know I only played this game a little bit but I can already tell it's great. If the review is up I didn't change my mind.

Very unique approach to 3D platformer/collectathon games. Reminds of the PS2/GC/Xbox/DC days of many 3D platformers with a twist. The building mechanic never got in the way for me and always felt fast and fluid when quick-building while moving like you see in the trailer. The level design remains varied throughout, with lots of fun exploration and challenges to overcome. Each level took me 10-20 minutes to 100%. The comic-book style presentation is incredibly polished, with the opening menus being the standout, plus the game looks and performs very clean. Two relatively minor nits: - Limited depth: The game has plenty of variety, but rarely goes deep on new mechanics or approaches to building. The puzzles are also relatively light and rarely get complex. Would have been nice to see both ramp up as you progress, but with the game only being 20 levels it never became a real issue for me, just missed potential. - Lack of story: The game doesn't need an engaging story, but at the start I was intrigued by the planet and thought it'd be interesting to learn more about it and the universe in general. The ending also felt a bit anticlimactic rather than something built up to. Was expectin…
