Junkyard Simulator

Absolutely incredible game!! There's a great variety of things to do depending on what you like doing best! I love the collecting and scrapping, as well as refurbishing. It's intuitive, but also explained well by the tutorials! I'm a more casual player who doesn't love feeling rushed or having time limits, and this game lends itself well to that! Perhaps even more important than being a generally fun, relaxing game... The devs. I have a bunch of games that I love and would look forward to updates, only for devs to just drop of the face of the earth or drop their past game to work on a new project, not updating the old one anymore. This dev team (which I think is literally just like 2 people?) couldn't be more different! As of yesterday, I'm having a weird crashing issue that, as far as I know, has only happened to me (yay lol). I posted about it yesterday, and got a SAME DAY RESPONSE. Multiple times! Asking clarifying ?s, making recommendations to optimize my playing experience... Legitimately 12/10 experience. The game, and the devs!

This game is a bit of a mess. I'll try and be as brief as I am able with why I wouldn't recommend it. To start with, the localization and script for the bits of voice acting you get in the story mode feel choppy, awkward and stilted. The sentences and way the character on the phone speaks is weird at best, especially ending every single sentence with a "haha". The voice actor did his absolute best with what he had to work with, and did as well as he could have. But it makes the entire story mode feel a bit cheap and it's hard to follow what's going on. The game asks you to collect scrap and other items from scrap piles, towing cars to a press, and finding other scrap piles you can transport to an even larger press. Some items can be renovated, and some items can be sold directly to a pawnshop. The intended core experience is the collecting of scrap, and making it into raw materials you can later sell on a simulated market with fluctuating prices. In theory, this should all be fun and engaging. However, the way all of these different systems, machines and scrap types interact makes it all feel like disjointed and confused. A lot to do, but explanations are poor, repetitive, it's more quantity over quality sadly. The controls are clunky and the game isn't very smooth itself. The concept is great, the game itself needs a lot more work.

It's a fun game, and recent updates are promising

There's a lot of things to do in the game at first, it's overwhelming trying to keep track of everything in the beginning. Once you've got things down then it becomes a matter of leveling up to get better tools and access to new abilities. It's not terrible, however, once you've made the purchases, upgraded the junkyard, your tools, your vehicles...then it's a slog. It feels like it's taking forever to earn the 50M achievement, no matter what I do to earn money. I've resigned myself to making 1-2M each session, because beyond that it's painful. I understand the devs are adding more and more to the game, but the food system feels like a tacked on afterthought. I'd really love to be able to use the tablet to see the true highs/lows of the market.
