About Jurig Escape
Escape the Nightmare
Jurig Escape is a 15-minute Free Third-Person Survival Horror game. You will play as the unnamed high-schooler trapped in a looping nightmare: An "empty" school with a revolver in your hand. Shoot the ghost and collect lost souls and escape this never-ending nightmare.
Game Features
- Classic Asian Survival Horror
In this third-person survival horror, you are awake without knowing how you got there. Deprived of choice, you must explore and find a way to escape the area. Be careful because a threatening aura fills the entire place.
- Classic Asian-Indonesian Theme
From Indonesian High School to Pocong (an undead being), The whole experience is enveloped around an Asian-Indonesian setting that hits close to our home.
- Defeat Enemies The Conventional Way
Shoot anything threatening in your way, Collect their souls, and find the escape door.
The Genesis Of Asian-Indonesian Horror
Made in 2010, this is our first prototype. As a first attempt in the game development journey, this demo serves as an experiment and blueprint for the birth of the DreadOut Series.
We unearthed this long-lost game build quite recently. To commemorate DreadOut 10th Anniversary, we released it on Steam for your convenience. Please be mindful of the imperfection since this is an unchanged build from decades ago. We hope you enjoy this relic from the past.

Think of this as a free demo. If you can survive, it should take you between 10 to 15 minutes. It is the prototype for what eventually became the successful 'DreadOut' game series. It is a very unpolished experience, but isn't bad once you know what you are supposed to be doing. I found it quite interesting to see what the original concept for 'DreadOut' looked like. You are an unnamed Asian female high school student who looks exactly like Linda from 'DreadOut'. You are even wearing the same school uniform. (Remember, prototype.) Yet for some strange reason, this girl has two freakishly huge hands, which is quite comical. The graphics are over 15 years old, so they look pretty janky to us now. The game objective is as simple as it gets. You wake up at night, in a trashed-out classroom, with a pistol in your hand. You must wander around the school compound, shoot 13 Pocongs, capture their souls, and then find the exit. A Pocong is from Indonesian folklore. It looks like a dead body wrapped up in a funeral shroud. The shroud is tied in several places to ensure it stays in place (like around the neck, the waist, and the feet). Not gonna lie, this "project" actually surprised me. First off, let's address the elephant in the room: it's horribly short with nothing else to do besides shoot and explore those 100m² of land. However, for a free game made in 2010 in the Unity Engine, it shows genuinely interesting mechanics (mainly the flashlight), graphics, and atmosphere. It knows where and when to scare you, and the environment, albeit very condensed, is not only detailed but also full of ideas. It's, of course, a bit rough around the edges. But with some finer tuning, it could very well stand out as a strong demo... for a game that unfortunately doesn't exist. You can view it as the precursor of DreadOut with very similar motives and ideas, but I think the more aggressive gameplay could've been a fun option in the full game, maybe as a DLC or such, and I'm kind of disappointed not to see it blossom to its full potential.1 found this helpful
Kill the necessary amount of enemies to be able to escape an abandonned/haunted school. A quite simple game and short (5-15min), but fun enough for a free project. Very spookie game im not givin up until i beat it wish me luck soon!!!!
Very short and to-the-point experience. It really feels and plays like an old game, which is cool and adds to the immersion, instead of a new game trying to look old.
Shorter than 15 minutes, but fun. Worth the time for sure.
