The Escape: Together

The Escape: Together is a pretty standard co-op escape room horror game that is best enjoyed with friends. There aren't really any unique mechanics, but it does what it sets out to do. There are four levels in total, and the game is also quite affordable, which makes it easier to recommend. The main issues for me were the lack of an FOV. There are also quite a lot of reused assets, and many of the maps start to feel very similar. There are many repetitive puzzles, although each map does have at least one unique puzzle. The atmosphere is there, but don't expect a huge horror experience. Most of the jumpscares are basically the same formula: a loud scream and something appearing on the screen. It's more likely to make you laugh with your friends than actually scare you. I wouldn't replay it, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a great game to play through once with friends. With four levels, you can finish it in one evening, or play one level per day and turn it into four evenings of co-op fun. On the technical side, I had no major lag or bugs. I’ve played ~50 horror games like this, and this is genuinely one of the worst three. It’s almost impressive how completely it fails at being a horror game. There’s no tension, no atmosphere, no suspense, and barely any reason to keep playing. Every “scary” moment feels like the game politely informing you that something is supposed to be frightening. The gameplay is so repetitive that I eventually became more afraid of the next 30 minutes than anything actually happening on screen. I can’t prove the positive reviews are botted, but the disconnect between those reviews and the game itself is genuinely bizarre. **0/10 horror. 0/10 fun. 100/10 waste of time.** If watching paint dry had a worse gameplay loop, it would be this game.

This game is not good. The first, easiest map was bugged. The "new" map was okay. The game hasn't been updated in over a year. I don't think we'll be playing again.

Fun game to play with friends. It has some good jumpscares, and the ambience during the chase sections, especially with the red ambience, is really cool. The sounds also make it pretty scary. It's unique in its style as a horror escape room, which makes it stand out from other horror games. It has a few little problems, but nothing too crazy. Very good game, especially considering the price.

Really fun co-op horror game and absolutely worth the money! Played this with a friend and honestly had a great time. The puzzles are fun, the atmosphere is creepy, and the jumpscares actually got us a few times 😂. There were plenty of moments where we were laughing one second and screaming the next. What I really liked is that the game is very affordable for what you get. Definitely feels like I got my money’s worth, especially considering how much fun we had playing it together. You don’t need to spend a lot to get a genuinely enjoyable co-op horror experience. The game is even better when playing with a friend because figuring out the puzzles together, getting lost, panicking during jumpscares, and making stupid decisions is half the fun. For the price, this is an easy recommendation. If you have a friend to play with and enjoy horror, puzzles, and good jumpscares, definitely give The Escape Together a try!
