"Kowi Ishto: Battle of Akonoli" is a laughably bad, amateurish attempt at a shoot 'em up, with pixel graphics so bad they don't even look authentic. This is incredibly incompetent. It is unfun to play, barely works, and looks hideous. Items like achievements and so on are also broken. There are reliable accounts of the developers trying to use copyright strikes and DMCA takedowns to silence valid criticism of this non-free software. This feels like a tech demo or a project smacked together to make a minimum viable product to pass the developer's idea and shove it into Steam Direct to see if you can publish junk through Steam Direct. They can, but is it good for gamers? No. This features poor pixel art instead of real graphics. This looks much worse than other games because of that decision, which is a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. This game is five years old, and back then it looked old and busted compared to professional 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then and looks worse now. Hilariously bad. Nothing here works how it should work in a shmup. Even euro shmups are much better. And the achievements don't even work. Don't waste your time with this! A nice and simple retro game that has Galaga vibes, that's always a plus! it has humor to it which is nice, a simple story don't have to have one that's overly complicated. not sure why some people are giving bad reviews (guess some people just gotta gripe about something) typical now-a-days it also has multiplayer, only adding to the fun in a retro revisit of a by gone era. plus it's now free! so now there's nothing holding you or me back! I prefer to support inde developers over the out of touch AAA developers 10/10 Will play again
