About Magic of Autumn

Magic of Autumn is a unique card puzzle game. Explore a magical island, turn the environment into cards, build decks to overcome card battles, and get your soul back.

Story

You were the Imperial Warden, the most powerful conjurer of the Eight Kingdoms. Your soul was stolen. You must get it back.

Conjuring

The only power that the soulless ones can wield. Everything in the environment can be conjured into cards that become your guardians and weapons during fights in the Void Plane.

Combat

In the physical world, you are just a faint shadow. You can only attack in the Void Plane. The combat system is inspired by games like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering. It's easy to learn for those who are not familiar with the genre and has rule twists to make it interesting for the veterans.

Exploration

Explore a remote Golden Apple Island, a place haunted by the seasonal spirits and protected by runes. You arrive here in autumn, hoping that the defenses would be weakened during the season of decay. Win fights to break runes and gain access to the new areas of the Island that are full of things to find.

Pretty cool concept for the theme and certainly worth the price, if a bit rough around the edges. I get the feeling that maybe dev wanted to build the game more initially, but ended up sticking to this. Puzzle deckbuilder where you can have anywhere between 0-20 cards in the deck. You unlock these cards by "conjuring" aka interacting with literally any object in the game, so you'll have to pay attention to anything new in the environment. Opponents use these same cards but can have multiple copies while you get one of each. This turns the game into adjusting the deck to counter whatever the opponent has cooked up. + Exploring and finding new cards feels rewarding + Dirt cheap + OST fits the theme + Has some world building which ain't too bad * Has some story bits but there's no "real" outcome to it * Graphics are a bit rough but not too bad - While the enemies "stage name" can give a clue to their gimmick, you'll have to play against them first to figure out what each particular one has going on - Balance is a bit questionable at times, particularly towards the end there are opponents that feel like you need a perfect start against and/or some luck in order to defeat them. …

I'm really enjoying it! Is basically a puzzle game masquerading as a deckbuilder but that means that there is way more emergence then a regular puzzle game would have (card draws are still random for both you and the opponent). Deck composition and scouting all the enemies to figure out how the deck must be built is so much fun! I really wish there were more features such as a display for remaining cards in deck for both players, see how many cards are in the hand of the opponent and a way to rematch previous fights with maybe a look at their decklist for added bonus. Overall I rec it and I'm hyped for Magic of Spring

A nice, short card game experience with a unique mechanic for getting cards. The learning curve isn't steep, but there's no real need to do optional fights after completing the main story. In fact, I'm convinced that some of the optional fights aren't possible to beat. Outside of that, it's a good 3 hour play that's worth the money.

A cozy puzzle game in the guise of a deckbuilder. You explore an island, scanning the surroundings for prominent objects and clicking on them to add new cards to your deck. Mechanically, it's as simple as that, but there is a fun narrative backstory to this straightforward process. There is an illusion of a small yet open world, but, in fact, you need to visit certain areas and unlock specific cards to have a chance to defeat enemies later on. The battles are surprisingly interesting. When confronting enemies, you need to figure out a viable strategy and modify your deck accordingly. Unlike most deckbuilders where you start with a basic deck and gradually upgrade it with new, more powerful cards, here, even starter cards can be essential to make the deck work. The music is atmospheric and never annoying, and the visuals are... well, take a look at the screenshots. In general, given the asking price, this is a steal.
