No one ever really understands you...

But-- that's not the question, the question is what are you going to do about it? Yes, you're crazy. But so was your Father, your Mother, your Brother. So, if we're being honest with each other, we can't say we're all that surprised are we? The visual hallucinations, the aural terrors, the sensory overloads… more daily routine for you than a burden! If anything, you seem to be almost thriving- in your own peculiar way...

Masochisia is not a game that tries to entertain in the conventional sense, and it makes that clear almost immediately. Developed and published by Oldblood, it presents itself as an experimental psychological horror experience, but even that label feels insufficient. It is closer to an interactive descent into a fractured mind, one that places the player in an uncomfortably intimate position with its protagonist. Rather than relying on external threats or traditional horror structures, it builds its impact through subject matter, tone, and the unsettling feeling of being complicit in what unfolds. The narrative follows Hamilton, a young man growing up in a deeply dysfunctional and abusive household. From the beginning, the game establishes an environment defined by instability—an oppressive father, a fragile and erratic mother, and a family dynamic that feels irreparably broken. These elements are not presented with distance or abstraction; instead, they are direct, raw, and often difficult to process. As the story progresses, Hamilton’s mental state begins to deteriorate, and the game increasingly blurs the line between reality and hallucination. What the player sees and experien…

This game is a headache. A significant part of me wants to believe that I like this, given that it is one of the few horror games which I can actually handle, but not only is it so edgy that it loses tact and nuance, but the true crime connection makes it downright tasteless. There's a real irony to the fact that it ends with a direct commentary on people's innate interest in violence and yet its mere existence is an exploitation of real events. This kind of media is why Man Bites Dog and Funny Games were so ahead of their time by punishing the audience for their own fascination, throwing the grim reality at them in a way which makes them feel complicit, by removing the distance that makes them feel safe. This is an adaptation that yes, is made to disturb in the way those films do and even removes the distance in the same way, but it's also made to entertain the intrigue in a deranged mind, providing very little new stylisations beyond established cheap horror tropes and poorly-written dialogue which cloud the thematic intention and cause the whole thing to collapse as a result of its ambition massively outsizing its creativity. A shame because I genuinely thought the pitch of …

This is if not THE, then one of the most disturbing games I’ve ever played. You start as a victim and later become a psychopathic murderer. The game has a pretty unique way of “walking” around: you simply browse from left to right on a map, and there are several locations to explore. You don’t get to click much, it’s more a visual novel, the only puzzle is finding the right path. The real impact is the story. It says an angel will help but when you actually meet this angel, you realize all hope is lost. It’s in the darkest/hardest moments, that people can't tell right from wrong, good from evil. The game offers different choices, some are locked and may require a second playthrough. Also I don’t think there’s any real meaning, just a dark story. Lastly, there is a game breaking bug where items disappear. My workaround was to select the chapter and find the times again, luckily, they reappear in their original places. There are mild jump scares and abusive killing scenes, play at your own risk. My curator page

this game is not very good, to say the least. especially for the price. profiting off of real stories and real victims who were murdered rubs me the wrong way. Devs get the benefit of the doubt, assuming they werent trying to make you feel pity for a man who killed his entire family. The worst part about this is that the game is beautiful. The writing and story are terrible, dont get me wrong, the one puzzle isnt hard, fun, or engaging even slightly. BUT the artwork is absolutely wonderful. I am not the type of person to get annoyed by sensitive topics in games. Personally, I enjoy a sad story, I even like playing as the villain. But to the degree it happened here made me uncomfortable in a way that is not enjoyable. While, yes, the game does 'provoke thought' and 'bring up emotions in the player' that does not mean it is good. I implore the writers to next time, take inspiration from real life, use your brain, come up with characters and an original story. The whole "devil made me do it" plot is disgusting. Shifting the blame from the perpetrator may not be what was intended but that was the effect. Might I also add, the font is borderline impossible to read as a person with d…

A very unsettling and compelling story of madness, best played in one sitting. The puzzles are fairly light but the dialogue, the visual effects, the sound effect... oh man, the sound effects alone made my imagination go wild. An excellently written game and the ending was very clever. Highly recommend if you can stomach the content warnings!

This is by far the most messed up game I've ever played and I could not recommend it enough. Left me stating at the wall reconsidering every life choice I had ever made. 12/10 for mental ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
