✦ AI summary

Players praise Match! The 12 CZ Wars as a charming and surprisingly deep indie game that blends match-3 mechanics with roguelike progression and strategic character-building, with developers who are genuinely engaged with their community. However, the game suffers from significant translation issues, with unclear descriptions and apparent AI translation errors that make understanding mechanics like "Wu Xing" frustrating and sometimes impenetrable for English players.

Note that this game has a spotty translation due to it seemingly being AI translated into English (the developer cites DeepSeek as a source of help in this area, to the extent I do not know). A particularly egregious example is a skill that reads "apply 5 Wu Xing to your opponent on Flash Strike" and trying to find out what Wu Xing even was was a game in and of itself (I believe it refers to the element and applies the user's element as a sub element) If you can get past that? It's a really charming little game! You have a bunch of characters to choose from and a pool of interesting ways to become powerful and conquer your enemies, you set up some synergies and traits, then you match 3 and watch the magic happen! I'm unfamiliar with match 3 games, so to be honest it seemed like that part of the game played itself to a degree, but there were still meaningful decisions to be made; I could choose to burn a turn swapping characters so that the spell I needed the most, defensive or offensive, had the most amount of counters and thus the highest chance of resolving, or I could simply roll with the punches and spend two turns doing less ideal actions. Decisions like that do make this gam…

This is an amazing little game. I actually discovered it because I was looking to purchase 蜀仙传·挂至飞升 and noticed it through a cross-promotional sale. After reading the reviews, I decided to support the developer, especially after seeing how they responded to negative feedback. In Asia, game development isn't always the easiest environment, and I don't really understand why some players are so harsh toward developers who actively stand behind their games. There are plenty of examples of the developers seem to disappear after the initial sales or funding from EA games. Here, you can genuinely feel the sincerity and passion behind the project. As for the game itself, it's a fun blend of match-three gameplay and roguelike progression. As you play, you make choices that affect your skills, stats, and various events, giving each run a different feel. The overall concept reminds me somewhat of Dream of Corpse Lady, but the gameplay is quite different and has its own identity. For a small indie title, there's a lot of heart here, and I've enjoyed my time with it. I also want to remind people who were being harsh on this game...this is a $6 dollars game, which is cheaper than a coffee in…

Match! The 12 CZ Wars is an imaginative indie title that successfully combines match-3 puzzle gameplay with roguelike progression, character-building mechanics, and strategic combat. Developed by CorvusCorax Studio and published by CorvusCorax Studio alongside YuetteGames, the game draws inspiration from the Chinese Zodiac and transforms its twelve symbolic animals into powerful Zodiac Maidens tasked with defending their world from an invasion of ancient beasts. While the premise may initially appear lighthearted and colorful, the gameplay quickly reveals a surprising amount of depth that distinguishes it from many traditional puzzle-based experiences. The core gameplay revolves around matching tiles to unleash attacks, activate abilities, and gain advantages during combat encounters. However, Match! The 12 CZ Wars goes far beyond the simplicity of standard match-3 games by integrating RPG-style statistics, elemental interactions, and team synergies. Players must carefully consider their moves rather than simply creating the largest matches possible. Every battle rewards planning and tactical thinking, especially when facing stronger enemies that require an understanding of elemen…
