Meat Saw

"Meat Saw" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game. Typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. Perhaps a genuine attempt to turn other people's assets into a real game, this suffers from the same problems that other asset flips do... The thing is, when developers don't budget properly and hire real artists, and lack the skill to do the rest of the job of a game developer and the result is deplorably bad quality junkware. "Meat Saw" proves this point perfectly. Much like a bunch of assets got ripped off, the developer also gleefully stole the theme of Texas Chainsaw Massacre to make a first person jumpscare kitbash. It's very badly assembled, with a crap AI for the enemy, and hidously, hamfistedly done "retro" screen filters that make the flipped assets look even worse. This is a non-starter and didn't really have much success as a game in terms of public reception. Now…

I enjoy VHS horror and I have played other games made by Tainted Pact that I love. But this one is a pass for me purely due to the fact that the VHS blur/grain/flicker effects are far too strong to the point where it is nearly impossible to see what is happening at times.

2.8 It was okay but very flawed. Takes about 20 minutes or so I'd say To start the prologue soft locked when I got back to the car, but that's okay it's just setup. The main game took a couple tries but once I figured out what to actually do it was just mostly a back and forth of get key item, take it to place other side of map, repeat a few times then get out. I lucked out on the clock puzzle, the first solution I was going to try somehow worked along the way. The stalker was annoying but it takes a fair few hits to kill you and there's a few health kits so it was never TOO bad.

wasted minutes of my life playing this, cant even do the prologue cus of a glitch, now in a forever state of crippling depression thanks to this wet flannel of a game 👍
