About Megatect
Essentially, Megatect is a multiplayer map builder without limitation!
Use a plethora of blocks, objects, and wires to create your own challenge maps, arenas, new sports, whatever you can dream up! Play solo or with friends and share grids online for others to play!
Megatect is currently in early access. Being a one man development team means updates may be slow, but much more content is definitely on the way!
Be sure to check http://timedropstudios.com/megatect for recent information, And always feel free to get in touch with me and share your ideas or to tell me how broken and awful it is!
I hope you enjoy Megatect, happy building!

As of Version 0.13:
- You can Build grids alone or with friends via direct connect IP (currently requires port forwarding, I'm looking for a solution)
- Build your map with a large selection of blocks to work with, and many more coming!
- Place special blocks such as spawn points, jump pads and teleporters
- Place Guns, Pickups, and Ammo spawners
- Use wires to connect doors to buttons, activate platforms or lasers, and generally create puzzles!
- Launch the grid you're working on into Game Mode and play a match with your friends!
- Customize your character with different colors and armor pieces
- Change the time of day, world color and game properties from the world node
- More stuff I've forgotten to mention!
Big future plans:
- Public hosting: Host a map you made in a public lobby and let everyone join you in your own map!
- Grid Sharing: Upload your gird for others to play and rate
- vehicles!
- Waypoints for races, navigation or as an end for your challenge maps
- team based power cores and receivers for CTF style games
- Even more stuff I've forgotten to mention!

Yet another failed, long-dead Early Access release. Megatect has the added bonus of hidden phone-home DRM too which is great. As of Feb 7, 2025 the master server is long gone, so if you were unfortunate enough to buy this and *not* create an account to play Online...well, both it and the Offline mode are now permanently inaccessible to you. I can play this, but aside from a dated level editor with bad optimization tied to a barebones boomer shooter there's really nothing here to see. I wish Valve would go back to kicking dead Early Access projects off the store.13 found this helpful
Megatect was barely a game... it was more of a software construction kit for making multiplayer maps coupled with a simplistic arena shooter engine. There's no players, of course, no maps, it's not playable out of the box, but that never stopped the "developer" for trying to scam people into paying for this. The developer embarked on a series of unethical behaviours around the game, which I'll get into, which may have contributed to the complete and utter failure of this software. The game was abandoned roughly 9 months after launch and hasn't been updated in 7 years. It blew past the developers commitment to complete the game without any notification or admission of failure from the developer. The game will never be completed. From a technical perspective, the game didn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy minimalist/untextured low-polygon "retro" assets and visuals, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. The lack of textures is a method that lazy devs often use to disguise their lack of talent/interest in doing the graphics properly and trying to disguise it under the name of "ar…3 found this helpful
This appears to be unplayable in 2024 due to the login server no longer responding. Maybe if you can remember your username/password the offline mode will work for you, but I was unable to get it to accept any credentials. This WAS an interesting and powerful map maker with a flawed boomer shooter around it. A shame.1 found this helpful
Disclaimer: Due to the dev losing source code for the game. The game is left unfinished sadly. But is playable! My previous review for this game stated that the game was unplayable due to not being able to connect to servers. Luckily the dev has fixed this and you can now play the game! But for what this game is, i think it's a neat FPS building game of sort. It doesn't really have much players online but that's kind of to be expected with lesser known games. Sadly as i stated above the developer has lost source code to the game so the game will likely never see a update. It would be nice if the game had some kind of remake from ground up with so it still got updates but oh well. I actually found out about the game's servers being online again like month after. I randomly looked at the game and found on discussions that the dev made the servers functional. I also think the store page itself should be updated to reflect the current situation cos it shows stuff like "future plans" which i doubt would be happening. But I personally think it's fun game tho and a fun little map builder. The price was lowered from 7,99€ to 0,99€ so it's very cheap too. Although i think the dev should a…1 found this helpful
Dead game with nothing to do except walk around in an empty box.
Its a sandbox. Its really pretty. I HATE that the developer seems to have abandoned this. I love this game so much I would have volunteered to assist in development. As an architect, this was the minecraft sim (no resource gathering though) I've always wanted
