Meridian 157: Chapter 1

This is the type of adventure you see a lot of on mobile. It's like a hidden object game without specific hidden object scenes, but it has the type of puzzles you see there. The objects are spread around the levels in such a way that sometimes you find the objects first, some times the places you need to use them. Compared to what I consider the king of this genre, the Adventure Escape games, there is not much for story or characters here, also the facility you explore is dark and dingy and opening a new door or corridor does nothing to reward you for advancement. For these reasons I can't really recommend it. I need a reason to play.

I like the series because it is slow and easy as far as the pace of the game goes.

B Long-time PnC Adventure fan and I've always loved puzzles. These types of games that are heavy on puzzles light on story (as with most HOGs), I actually like to speed run (without a walkthrough.) My time on this game was slightly over 2 hours (I had issues with the game freezing when I would take pictures.) My belief is that just like weight lifting if you get good exercise and repetition with you noggin, challenging problems become very easy. The majority of the puzzles were well designed (even if they didn't fit in the world.) There were a couple of very cleaver ones that slowed me down (one of the first keypads.) There were a couple, however, that were far too much a stretch of logic, one of which I needed a hint. When I play a Adventure game with story and complex puzzles, I still use a physical notebook because I like documenting my path. When I play a game like this, I take screenshots using Steam overlay, and throw those up on my second monitor (this is my speed version of a notetaking ability.) This is a very good puzzle series. The graphics, music, and story are really good. But I'm not going to recommend the game because the developers don't respond to issues posted by players on the discussion board. The meridian series has a problem with playing the in game cut scenes on Linux computers as well as the brand new Steam Machine. If they would fix this issue, or at least respond on the discussion board, then I would give them a positive recommendation.
