Gameplay & Puzzles Repetitive mechanics: Puzzles rely heavily on repetitive grid and sliding panel designs. Punishing design: Failing late-stage panels can reset previous progress, adding frustration. Burnout factor: Solving row after row of identical panels quickly drains the fun. Story & Atmosphere Weak narrative: The game provides little to no context for the player's presence or environment. Missing momentum: Scattered voice notes fail to create a compelling reason to keep playing. Sorry, not for me1 found this helpful
metroidvania disguised as a puzzle game. all the puzzles are piss easy, except for the ones that jonny blows ♥♥♥♥ decided not to tell you how to solve just yet (which is 80% of the puzzles) and the ones that contradict the previously established rules (19% of puzzles). i heckin love trying to solve a puzzle for 2 hours only to find out its impossible to figure out unless you've been on the other side of the island! i heckin love exploring! i heckin love exploration!!!! make it more mandatory and shove it down my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ throat daddy jon!!!! and don't forget the sprinkled in redditor pseudo-intellectual rants that little jonny found heckin profound and decided to make you listen to (there is approximately zero actual story or substance besides those ramblings). and the graphics. oh the graphics get praised SO MUCH. i get that this is a 2016 game but GOD do these cartoony graphics get old quick. oversaturated colors and low poly rocks, is that really worth all the praise?1 found this helpful
The Witness is a true masterpiece. It is the best puzzle game ever made, but so much more than just a game- it is an experience. Few games will rewire your brain the way The Witness does. It's about more than just playing and solving, it's about slowing down, observing, contemplating, and appreciating beauty.
I like puzzle games but this the puzzles are both hard/frustrating and simultaneously boring/repetitive. After getting something wrong a couple of times you think it wouldn't be something as lame as the puzzle is reversed but then it turns out to be exactly that. This game feels like work, not fun. Would return if I could.
An incredible piece of work. This is art, not just a game
Great puzzle game, relaxing theme and visuals. Hard enough to keep you busy!
