Basic Information
Title: Mesel Developer: Burak Dabak Publisher: Burak Dabak Genre: Horror
General Impression
My apologies if the review below will look more like a rant to you than an actual analysis of the game I was given the chance to try out. Some things I really can’t overlook. “Minor” issues like erasing my entire game progress, for instance. After half an hour of playing Mesel and advancing enough through the first two chapters, I received a CTD (crash to desktop) and upon relaunching the game, I could not continue from my last checkpoint save. Everytime I clicked on “Continue”, the game would load for a few seconds and crash again. I refuse to restart from the very beginning through “New Game”. That explains my short gameplay duration that has been registered by the Steam client. I normally wouldn’t write and submit a review to a game that I have played for less than an hour and a half, but “special” titles demand “special treatment”. After playing hundreds of games on Steam (out of which two-thirds have been indie titles) I never thought I’d find one, which would hinder my in-game progress to such an extent. I couldn't get past the literal 30 second mark because a tool tip pops up that says "press R to look at your journal" and that's the last thing I can get the game to do. Pressing R doesn't do anything. The tooltip remains. I pressed every single button on my keyboard and mouse...the tool tip still remains. Game paused, waiting for me to hit the prompt. I tried my bluetooth keyboard, pressed R, hit all the other buttons. Tooltip remains. Every button on my attached controller did nothing, tooltip remains. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but as far as I can tell this is broken.5 found this helpful

I have loved each of Burak Dabak's games. This was his first before he went into space games. This is a great game with some puzzles, an interesting concept, and you always get to wonder what you are going to encounter next. It's a fun and inexpensive game. Last update was in 2016, so, don't expect any changes.
