What Steam players say

Players appreciate the game's impressive graphics, atmospheric desert setting, and solid level design inspired by classic souls-likes, but are frustrated by significant technical problems including poor optimization, input lag, clunky controls, buggy mechanics, and a poorly designed final boss fight that relies too heavily on a finicky dash mechanic rather than traditional dodging. Most agree it works as an ambitious student project with some cool ideas, but the execution falls short of being a polished or recommendable experience.
Dark Souls clone. Basic gameplay - dash and only weak or strong attack is available. Very buggy gameplay - fell off the map a few times (once when fighting with boss). General idea and setting is ok. Explorer abandoned desert city and catacombs looking for trouble. Guards have been turned into glass and corrupted began to reign the place. Music is good. What else? Skip if you're looking for something more interesting.
8 found this helpful
Pathetic excuse of a souls-like. Especially last boss, you have zero dodge mechanic except for a sandy teleport crap that takes a large chunk of your energy including your normal attacks. 99% of the time you find yourself running from the final boss and trying to hit a single soft blow or so, took me 20 minutes to take him down. Extremely clunky controls, unoptimized mess. I have a chinese modified 3080 with 24 gb vram and a 5800x3d and 64 GB system memory. I also have a rx 6400 that does lossless scaling frame gen. The game has a large input delay itself and when I turned ultra I could barely get 35 fps on highest settings on my 2k monitor, same PC can do 45ish fps with path tracing enabled cyberpunk. Think about it how horrible it is.. Anyway I found a semi comfortable spot to render 80 fps and did x2 LSFG frame gen with my other gpu to get 160 on my monitor and oh boy the input delay became unbearable. I finished it without lsfg and on 60 fps settings but oh boy was it a traumatic experience... This is a pinnacle example of what an unoptimized messy game is. My poor 3080 was on 90ish percent all the time and even my cpu was around fifties, meaning they probably have quintillion …1 found this helpful
Cool small game, nice work! ^^
The game looks great, but the movement, camera and controls doesnt feels good. I played it till first 3 enemies and had to turn in off. Music in the menu is fire, so I left it playing for a while and finished my project.
A cool little student project. 30 minute thingie, fun for that duration
I have a soft spot for soulslike student projects, and after reviewing Bloodspear and Cervus Blade, I thought it was time to give Metamorphos a try. Unfortunately, contrary to those two other games, Metamorphos is little more than a shallow demo, with no levelling, no interesting mechanics, and far too many bugs for me to recommend. It’s undeniably graphically impressive, with its sand swept locales and huge Arab-inspired temple that’s slowly being corrupted by an amethyst rot. Your unnamed protagonist has the usual light and heavy attack, but the traditional dodge mechanic has been replaced with a dash that can be used both for evading attacks and zipping across ledges. It’s fun when it works, although it’s a bit finicky at times, especially on some of the narrower platforms. Combat is serviceable, apart from the enemies that throw near unavoidable firebombs at you. These seem to set you alight with a single hit and deal massive amounts of burn damage that I couldn’t find a way to mitigate. Your bonfire equivalent here are oases that respawn enemies and refill your healing item. And … that’s just about it. There’s no levelling, no additional items, weapons, or armour. Thi…
