Million Depth

Cute artstyle, simple yet surprisingly engaging story, but unfortunately very hit-or-miss mechanics. The main two quirks of this game - customizable weapon and time-stop-based combat felt poorly executed. Starting with the customizable weapon - it did not feel like there was much to the customization. The amount of blocks you can use is limited and heavily depends on RNG - that really hampers the "creativity" you can use. The design also directly contributes to your damage so you would naturally favour functionality over aesthetics. The combat, by the virtue of "time moves when you move," basically boils down to you standing in one place while patiently waiting for the exceptionally slow drone to make its way to the enemies. On hit, the drone bounces back a significant distance and so you must wait again. The bounce-back mechanic is used for comboing and it can be very satisfying when the opportunity presents itself, but that heavily depends on the enemy composition (i.e., not something you directly control). Interesting mechanic, decent story, good music and visual, game time 10 to 15 hours.

Really enjoyed the game. The story is cute, but a tad convoluted, having finished the game, I am still at a loss as to how time travle is supposed to work in this universe, which is the basic premise that the entire conflict hinges upon. Either way, I enjoyed it more for the gameplay, not the touching story. The game's quirk is that time stops when you don't move, so dodging and attacking isn't about quick thinking, but rather strategy and positioning. If Moma finds herself in the middle of a pack of enemies, with her shield too far away, she wouldn't be able to dodge the onslaugt of projectiles, so the player is incentivised to think ahead and strategise. There are many different builds that you can make, mostly based around relics that you find. I completed about 8 runs to complete the main story, and in them a had a weapon that explodes on enemies and fixes itself, a weapon that spears through enemies and flies back, a weapon that double hits enemies with a ton of damage. Very linear and boring gameplay, subpar writing that I don't know if it is because of the translation. I am not going to stick around and see all the ending, if I can't stop myself cringing just from reading the dialogue.
