Mini Monsters: Gravitational Consensus is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This garbage platformer is one of literally hundreds of platformers that use a gravity manipulation gimmick. The developer, who published this in 2024, proudly claims he was the guy who invented this "unique" concept in a platformer. It's bad enough when garbage like this gets dumped on Steam through Steam Direct, but it's worse when developers feel the need to lie about it. I mean, come on, I think "VVVVVV" is a terrible game for a lot of reasons, but you can't ignore the fact it had a gravity mechanism years before the developer "invented" this "unique" game mechanic. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming.
