Misericorde: Volume One

There is no gameplay just a massive story with fascinating characters, several mysteries and a protagonist thats just like me fr fr

Let me tell you the truth, old friend. The worst part isn't that we sold ourselves. It was that we sold ourselves for cheap.

Misericorde is a great visual novel to recommend to people that have never read one before. It's kinetic, so there are no choices to make. One can simply read the story at their own pace, feeling confident that they won't miss anything. The story is set at an abbey in the late 15th century. I'm a bit picky about historical settings: they need to be used more than just window dressing. Thankfully, the setting of Misericorde feels authentic. As far as scares go, there are definitely some to be found here. The abbey changes from a cozy setting to a spooky land of nightmares in an instant. Quite a good start to the story

It's a story more than a game and the ending is unfinished. if you want to play a detective game or read a full story, not a good option.

Really enjoyed this game. Very cool character dynamics, great story and the music is sooo good (already have some tracks on repeat). I have to say I was quite skeptical when I learned there weren't any branching narratives, but I got so immersed in the story as it is that I forgot about it really quickly. As an aspiring visual novel developer, a game made with this level of quality and care is very inspiring. Can't wait to play the rest of the trilogy!
