Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze

It was fine as far as visual novel mysteries go, but it's incomplete and will apparently never get the third episode to finish the story. So, not worth buying.

Writing and art are excellent, and the game feels like a real Miss Fisher story. But this is an extremely poor mobile port. There's no graphic settings at all (not even a windowed mode or a resolution toggle), I ran into numerous bugs, no voice acting... the achievements are fine, as is the collection, but it's all very basic.

Imagine you're a detective solving a murder case. You expect to gather pieces of case evidence, but instead you're collecting pieces of clothing to unlock new outfits for your female detective. What a joke. A detective's job is to crack cases, not curate a wardrobe. The game writing needs improvement. However, the biggest flaw is the mechanic requiring you to re-check spots you've already examined later with a different companion. It's completely unnecessary and feels like a cheap way for Dev to increase gameplay time. Plus, it's easy to miss a key spot in a scene. More of a visual novel than a true investigation challenging the player. This game probably doesn't offer that much to those who are unfamiliar with the source material, but for fans of Miss Fisher's it's a fun way to spend some more time with the characters from the TV show. Although the story isn't super exciting, the characters are faithful to the original and have quite a few witty lines (you get to flirt with Jack!) A fun way to spend an afternoon or two, but don't expect too much of it. It's a shame the story will probably never be finished. It doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but I would have loved to know what happens next!

I went into this completely blind and good god this was horrible writing. Within the first minute of the game character names are just thrown at youň or I should say just names are thrown at you because these are not characters, they are not even 1 dimensional, they are negative 100 dimensional somehow. The game has the weirdest pace where plot is just skipped through but random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the game just spends a weirdly long time on. There is this weird feeling where the game's writing feels like a badly remembered summary told by someone who trying to remember a show they watched ten years ago, and they swear it was the best show ever but from what they babble on to you you cannot understand anything. I burst out laughing when within the first introduction of the morgue lady and secretary they are shown to fall in love with a music sting to go along with it... Who gives a ♥♥♥♥? Who even are these people? I had to quit on the next scene we were thrown more names without any context. Then I looked it up, turns out this was a licensed game from a tv show. That explains a lot but good god I thought such terrible adaptations were left in the 90s.

It has the vibes of a mobile look and find game, and less a puzzle or mystery game. That said, it's put together well with nice visuals. If you're looking for a mystery coated visual novel, you'll enjoy it. If you're looking for an actual mystery game, this isn't it.
