I hate having to leave a review like this. Never left a negative review before. Monster College was 10/10. Great story, well designed "monsters" I played it daily, like binge watching a really good TV series. Monster City has a completely different tone to it, and it has nothing to do with the sandbox mode, it doesn't feel like it's created by the same person. Immature and unnecessary comments, including insulting players, breaking the 4th wall (which doesn't really lend itself to good storytelling). It feels like you're forced to have a brief fling with one monster, and then onto the next one, so far only I really only find the dragon princess and Japanese ice to even be attractive, but they lack depth and you're forced to move on too quickly for anything to get interesting. The devil girl would be #3 but she's put in a weird sibling-like role which isn't ideal and interactions are very linear and limited. The developer has talent, but they need to go back to the recipe that works, keep sandbox mode, sure, but don't change everything that worked the first time, that's what I came back for, personally, and I can't speak for others, I but the new approach just is worse in ev…7 found this helpful
The game has so much potential, however the writers have drifted from the lore of the previous game in an attempt to be PC. For example, the previous lore stated that species can't produce monster hybrids except with humans. Therfore, there was no need for contraceptives. So why then in this iteration of the game are they using them?!! It takes away from the scenes IMO. Also, there were in game choices where you could choose in the previous game. This is what made it so hot, so why drift from a working formula?2 found this helpful
Spoiler-ish review, you were WARNED, this is the first draft and there will probably be spoilers in this review. only half a game.... but it is put together rather well, when you get used to the hot gals, you tend to find them gorgeous, but for the first 5 hours, you will be like ewuh 1. i really dont like social media in a game...(or at all) but this one is not a multi-choice mess... you just check out the pics then go back to reading story, so it's good, but it does feel like it is just to make the game feel longer :/ 2. i dunno if Elissa is into blackmail, but it was hot.... to get this girl who looks down on everyone to swallow. 3 at first... it seems like everyone is a bit odd looking, but they get hotter as you get more acustomed to seeing them, that's odd. 4 one major criticism would be not enough xxx in the game... and the xx scenes being a bit too short..... (because of how the game-travel works as 1 example, feels like it is taking up too much time to click on the tree then, the college... to check if there is new content unlock, then back on the tree then to the city, so the lack of creating a Demon-Vampire Porn Empire.... is really slowing down the xxx in this ga…1 found this helpful
Love this game. Definitely deserves to be talked about and supported more. The characters and stories are interesting and you get attached to them and invested in whats going on. The setting and theme are one of the coolest of any AVN. In a space full of so many cookie cutter same-y adult visual novels, this one and it's predecessor Monster College are a serious breath of fresh air. Play them both!
Monster City: A Monster College Story is a supernatural visual novel developed and published by Monster Eye Games that combines mystery, romance, humor, and character-driven storytelling inside a world where monsters quietly coexist alongside ordinary society. Set within the larger universe established by previous entries from the developer, the game builds upon familiar ideas while expanding its focus beyond campus life, creating a story that balances personal growth with hidden dangers lurking beneath an otherwise ordinary environment. The story centers on Adam Thorne, a young vampire entering a new chapter of his life while struggling with burdens that extend beyond ordinary college concerns. Adam is not portrayed as an unstoppable supernatural figure. Instead, he faces personal challenges connected to defective abilities and a difficult family background that have shaped his confidence and outlook. His journey becomes one of self-discovery as he attempts to define his future while learning how to overcome limitations that continue to follow him into adulthood. College serves as the initial foundation of the experience, introducing players to a setting where supernatural creat…
