I spent five years refining my Getting Things Done (GTD) system. And the last couple of decades locked in with a trusted system that works for me. That's not to say that I'm not willing to change it up or try new things, but I've always needed my system to get through everything I need and want[/] to do in a day. One area I've resisted exploring is any kind of gamification around managing work. It doesn't sit well with me and adds a kind of messy layer of abstraction to some of the work I do: I produce video games and it's hard enough to focus on what needs to be done without managing (and deconstructing] a progression system! Motivation Monsters (MM) is *not* like that. In fact, it imposes the most gentle of frameworks on you to actually prioritize your own self care. And this is a lot easier to do when you have a friendly Xenopal hanging around you while you go through your day. I am used to task management systems having a whole lot of features with very ineffective on-boarding support. MM stream lines things to the kind of essentials that reflect your immediate needs, gently building up your confidence so that you put yourself at the forefront while ensuring you g…

A fun and cute to-do list manager with nice gamification elements. You pick one of three eggs with different Monsters and as you add and complete items on your to-do list XP is granted and your egg hatches, and then your monster grows. It is very gentle in its approach to helping users improve themselves with positive messaging and observable improvements to your chosen Monster.

It's cute! The main value of this over another task tracker is you get a character checking in with you every day to see how you're doing, and your little pet gets XP from doing tasks. I think I like this since it's not too gamified. The main value I think is the in-character checkins. So far it's been helping me stay accountable and on task.

I love the little xenopals and how they keep you company while helping motivate you to achieve daily tasks. It is not intrusive, and it shows you love when you complete a task and grows as you complete tasks. You can pick from 3 cute little xenopals and create your task list and even get the satisfaction of crossing tasks off as you complete them. A great way to stay on track!
