About Museum of Symmetry

A kaleidoscopic joyride
Welcome to a delightfully disorienting animated world inspired by geometry and nature—and overflowing with infectious dance beats. Disrupting conventional game storytelling, Museum of Symmetry is an “other-dimension” VR adventure that takes you on a psychedelic romp through a feel-good universe. Come join us on this pleasure-positive trip in VR as never experienced before.

WELCOME TO THE MUSEUM
Step into the world of Paloma Dawkins, where up is down and silly is serious. This museum welcomes you to dive into a variety of artworks. From the highest clouds to the deepest oceans, let’s ride through fantastic landscapes of earth, fire, wind and water inhabited by strange and lovable characters. Are you ready to embrace the experience?

MEET YOUR NEW VIRTUAL BFF
Get cocooned by a spider, party with a crazy bird and ride on mantas under the sea. All of our animated friends have many rambling things to say about the meaning of life. Explore their alter-universes—and maybe even your alter-self.

WHAT EVEN IS LIFE?
There are no limits or dead ends, only possibilities and room for reflection. Perhaps the biggest surprise is not what happens during the experience itself, but how you feel once you return to the real world.

✦ AI summary

Players praise Museum of Symmetry for its stunning visual style, psychedelic atmosphere, and artistic presentation that creates an immersive, meditative experience in VR. However, opinions sharply divide on whether it qualifies as a game at all—some criticize it as mere interactive art or a "non-game experience" lacking meaningful gameplay mechanics, while others appreciate it precisely as creative art rather than traditional gaming.

Experienced in the quest 2 via steam VR. I loved this game, very cute and magical. Although I wish I could have been able to move in the game instead of it being locked to RoomScale movmenet.

"Museum of Symmetry" is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, "Museum of Symmetry" is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition. This is another godawful VR youtube video being shoved on Steam as if it was a game. They can't even bring themselves to try call it a game, it's an "experience"... yet they deliberately pushed this Youtube video into the "games" section of Steam. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever film school dropouts are desperate for anyone to give them validation, so they publish their short film on Steam because nobody watches their garbage on Youtube. There was a video section on Steam, but it's deprecated and basically closed, so failed filmmakers seem to just try to abuse the Steam games section instead. Why is this good for gamers? It's not. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and the…

if i’ve ever done anything right in my life it was to play this beautiful piece of art. probably at the lowest i could hit mentally after coming so far in personal achievements and playing this in vr while spur of the moment tripping harder than i ever have in my life from my local gas station clerk has changed everything for me. i actually sat there and sobbed when i played to the end probably for a good 30min and promptly went to experience it again. I am beyond grateful to this beautiful team of artists as a fellow game designer, creative director, and just general lover of all things creative, this is beautiful. thank you for sharing it with us. i can’t wait to drag my roommates and friends into my room to share this art with them the moment i can get them in my clutches. thank you, truly.

6 years late to this one, but the mix of cel-shaded graphics and 2d animated cartoon characters is very pleasant looking in VR. Would have liked to see longer experiences like this.

Pleasant and relaxing (but also trippy) 30 to 60 min experience. Volume a bit low on Quest 2.
