Heavily inspired by Balatro, this game has the downside of being more confusing to pick up, as it has replaced the suit system with a class system featuring five classes instead of four. I've only completed one run so far, so my opinion might not be fully accurate. However, in its current state, I encountered a few items still labeled in Chinese, which significantly detracted from the experience, as I couldn't understand the items’ effects or how to enhance my combo. The combat animations also fall short—different suit or class combinations don’t affect the animations at all. This is a major drawback, especially considering that switching to an RPG-style combat system should ideally emphasize dynamic, varied animations to enhance gameplay. Overall I would still recommend for those who want to try the game out for the sake of Rougelite / Balatro experiences, but this is just not my cup of tea.

You've seen Balatro right? Enjoy it? Looking for more of the same with a little twist or two? This is it. Add a suit, a couple of different items/interactions, and swap out cards for pixel heroes fighting boss monsters, and you've got this little gem. It's a blast, just like its "inspiration" and for the price you can't go wrong.

There is an over reliance on equipment and lucky enchantments to get anywhere in this game. It did show me how much I would dislike Balatro. Needs more methods to gain and remove cards in the deck, as well as proper English translations. I lost my last game due to the translation stating it would copy the effects of an equipment piece unto another before destroying the original. Me, understanding the meaning of the word "COPY", assumed that meant I got an exact copy, saving me an equipment slot due to both effects being placed onto the same piece of equipment. NOPE. It meant that the current enhancement on that piece of equipment would be transferred over. Lost an 80 times multiplier because of it, making me lose. The last update was over 6 months ago, so they are unlikely to correct such basic errors.

This game is Balatro as the other reviews have said but it has a charm around it that one cant deny. When you play through a round and you start considering the fighters as suits and cards it does make the mechanics make much more since. One thing that the game does accomplish very well is its design, the 8 bit textures are well made. Another piece of it is the character, bosses when they are about to die will sweat and the screen will light with a firey outline which adds to the feeling of a powerful kill. Overall if you are looking for D&D Balatro with really fun damage mechanics as well as a really well aligned system this game is for you. If you hate RNG though, this game will just frustrate you as the RNG in these types of games is how they level the playing field and replay value.

The thinnest of veils over the bones of Balatro, significantly obfuscating the gameplay, renaming all of the hands. This could have been a mod that changed the graphics and names in Balatro. I can respect a game that takes an existing formula and adds a wrinkle or two. This isn't that. Refunding and playing Balatro instead.

Very similar to balatro with its equipment / set up i wouldn't call it an exact clone but you can see the similarities very quickly with the gear and cards being a 1 for 1 copy in a new art form. but the adding of the 5th card suit & removal of aces does make the deck building feel different, At the time of this review the game seems to be translated into english pretty well. Somethings are worded a little weirdly. There's one spellbook that's still in chinese & one of the confirmation button comes up in chinese when you defeat a boss and select your upgrade. i really enjoy the old rpg style / pixel art & its pretty damn good for its price My only real complaints are quality of life updates that would be lovely to see, 1. Being able to Hover a card and have it stay there so that i can hover key words and get a quick explanation of them (Megaloot does this very well) 2.when opening an egg with 5 cards in it, the far right ones description always gets cut off by my monitor, Would be nice to see the card reward screen shift more to the left side of the screen after you open an egg Hope to see new character unlocks, along with new gear in the future
