What Steam players say

Players praise the gorgeous artwork and detailed, ambitious storytelling in this dark visual novel, with some calling it their favorite VN despite its demented content and morally reprehensible characters. However, the game divides opinion significantly: some find the story compelling and atmospheric, while others criticize it as unnecessarily repetitive and gratuitous in its violence, with character development deteriorating post-timeskip and pacing issues that make the early promise fall apart. The heavy Steam censorship is also a point of frustration for players, with the full experience re
One of the hottest eroguro VNs I played so far, but the ending was disappointing after such a strong build-up.. (╥‸╥) The game itself is beautifully executed, the art is super clean, gorgeous and with a large variety of CGs, additionally the soundtrack is wonderful and atmospheric as well. The story premise is highly intriguing and with an immersive setting. I found the plot captivating to follow, especially as everything only becomes more maddening and cruel, with the story reaching a point where everything is ruined beyond repair and the only way to progress appears to be further destruction. Altogether I truly enjoyed the writing, I like how well it manages to portray that deeply embedded generational corruption and twisted mindsets that keep getting passed on within the nation/families, with no one questioning its logic and which simply cause pain and disagreements. Also I love the character writing, despite the large cast most of them are still uniquely written and feel human. The way basically everyone is a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with deranged desires and difficult to sympathize with, yet still has own motivations and struggles which can evoke compassion in the reader, really impr…23 found this helpful
This is hands down the most demented game I’ve ever played, and I don’t say that lightly. Every character is unhinged and morally reprehensible, including the main protagonists themselves. The artwork is gorgeous though, and the story is incredibly detailed and exhaustive. Well, maybe a bit too exhaustive at times. Be aware that this is a pure visual novel. It also contains mosaic censorship, and the adult stuff requires a seperate paid download.6 found this helpful
Funny. Some of you left bad reviews because this VN has too much gore in it. The GORE tag is there for a reason! Also, Steam... why is this censored when there are furry games out there in the wild completely uncensored? Crazy. This VN is heavily censored and I recommend y'all get the 18+ DLC from another website as well, otherwise it'll be like eating the peel of an orange and throwing the actual fruit away instead of eating the fruit and throwing the peel away. ANYWAAAY This is my favorite VN of all time. I adored the illustrations, the story and the characters. Someone said the story is lost in translation and I'm not going to say that isn't true BUT if you pay close attention to everything it's really easy to understand.
Yasaka Io is the most important character in the game, by the way
. The story is a bit insane, but for a horror/gore visual novel it's exactly what it should be and I loved every single part of it. Completely worth it.4 found this helpful
Nie No Hakoniwa - Dollhouse of Offerings is a psychological horror visual novel developed by Chatte Noire and published by Sekai Project. Built around the chilling legend of a mysterious cursed box, the game delivers a dark narrative that places storytelling above traditional gameplay mechanics. Instead of focusing on player choices or puzzle-solving, it presents a carefully crafted linear experience that draws readers into a disturbing tale of fear, grief, obsession, and the irreversible consequences of human actions. From its opening moments, the game establishes a suffocating atmosphere that remains consistently tense, making it an ideal choice for fans of mature horror fiction that prioritizes narrative depth. The story follows several interconnected characters whose lives become entangled through the supernatural curse surrounding the infamous box. What initially appears to be a simple urban legend gradually evolves into a far more complex mystery involving hidden truths, painful memories, fractured relationships, and emotional scars that refuse to heal. The writing steadily reveals new layers of the narrative without sacrificing suspense, allowing each revelation to reshape …1 found this helpful
I gave it a shot. Dropped this a month ago because I just wasn't interested in the story or characters at all, but I decided to pick it up again today, and I regret it. I could've read something actually interesting instead. 2 hours in and I was stuck with such a boring and poorly written romance plot as two characters who barely know each other walk around different parts of the mansion. I picked this up for the horror. Not only is there not a hint of that 2 hours in, but it's just so damn boring and I just can't be bothered to keep reading any further. I don't care about the boring and poorly written romance plot, and I really do not care about the characters.1 found this helpful
