About Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition

✦ AI summary

Monitor cameras and trigger traps to defend five girls from vampire invaders in this fully rebuilt classic FMV game. The 25th Anniversary Edition brings stunning remastered video, new gameplay modes with online multiplayer, deleted scenes, documentaries, and the bonus fully-playable prototype Scene of the Crime.

Originally developed by Digital Pictures in 1987 and released in 1992, Night Trap has been completely rebuilt, bringing it to a level of video quality never before seen.

Night Trap tells the story of five teenage girls spending the weekend at the Martin home. As a member of the Special Control Attack Team, your job is to monitor the home and protect the girls using an intricate system of cameras and traps as it is being invaded by vampires.

Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition also includes new features such as deleted scenes, two documentaries, the all-new Theater that allows you to watch all story-related videos uninterrupted, a new mode with online functionality called Survivor that will test your skills at trapping intruders and behind the scenes production images. For the first time ever, the unreleased prototype Scene Of The Crime will be fully playable and included with Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition.

night trap and mortal kombat were the main reason the esrb rating system came to be 30+ years ago. americans have always been fond of violence, so much so that they celebrate it almost every week at randomly selected schools, and none of these have any nudity (no naked dana plato for you, son, not in this movie anyway), so it was very strange. looking for rhyme, reason or common sense in politics over there (or pretty much anywhere) even back then is a fool's errand though. thank gosh for esrb anyway because as we know, if you tell somebody they shouldn't play (read, watch, listen to, do) something, they'll obey without question, just ask barbra streisand. that's why nobody under 18 has ever played grand theft auto. kids aren't sneaky bastards, stores and companies care more about the well-being of youth than their own profits, and parents are really responsible and always pay attention to their children. case closed. the more over-the-top something is, the harder it is to take seriously, but some morons in congress managed to do it with one of the cheesiest, least believable fmvs ever. filmed in 1987, the premise is some girls are having a slumber party while clumsy vampires are…

so this is the game that launched a thousand controversies. After hearing so much about it, I finally decided to play it. Night Trap is amusing. Surprisingly engaging. It has an interesting premise, delightfully cheesy acting and production values, and the rerelease adds some enhancements which greatly improve the experience. I can’t imagine playing this without being able to see which cameras are active. It’s a novelty, and I’m happy to see it preserved so well.

The video elements are very stupid, and the gameplay is kind of obnoxious, but there is an unmistakable unique atmosphere to Night Trap that has kept me returning to it every once in a while since it came out.
