Players appreciate Norbert's Diary as a unique atmospheric horror experience that blends mundane gas station management with creeping psychological dread and a mysterious killer stalker threat, but the game suffers from significant usability issues including overpowering visual effects with no toggle option, unclear interaction mechanics that force blind clicking, some untranslated Russian text despite English settings, and unintuitive object locations that can create frustrating progression blockers. The retro aesthetic and mysterious tone are engaging elements, but the execution falls short
Completed the game with bad ending and 0 achievements. A cool mysterious horror game where you work at a gas station stalked by a shadowed killer as you experience electrical malfucnctions and chill tasks to complete2 found this helpful
I should have watched the gameplay video. The visual effects are overbearing and there's no way to turn them off. Also despite having an english language setting, there are still some game elements in Russian. There is also zero visual indication of what you can/can't interact with aside from doors and the generator, leaving you to click blindly a chunk of the time.2 found this helpful

The repetition of daily tasks—serving customers, adjusting pricing, maintaining the station—creates a baseline sense of normalcy. This routine becomes the canvas upon which the horror elements begin to intrude. The contrast between the ordinary and the ominous is one of the game’s defining qualities. As Norbert’s isolation deepens, subtle disturbances begin to surface. St…
I like the retro theme but unfortuantely, when having to grab the newspaper at the start of the game, it would not let me do anything (i tried clicking everything and pressing buttons). I wouldn't recommend it, the location of the generator and jerry cans were quite un-intuitive too.
