About Northern Ireland '74
The Troubles were an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted for about 30 years from the late 1960s to 1998. Also known internationally as the Northern Ireland conflict, it is sometimes described as an "irregular war" or "low-level war". The conflict began in the late 1960s and is usually deemed to have ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Although the Troubles mostly took place in Northern Ireland, at times violence spilled over into parts of the Republic of Ireland, England, and mainland Europe.
As the British Armed Forces deployed into Northern Ireland, you will need to win the Hearts and Minds of the local population and balance the aspirations of both the Loyalists and the Nationalists.
Both the IRA and the UVF need to be contained, preventing the insurgency from destabilizing the region.
The Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) need to be deployed effectively and fairly to keep the two factions apart as a political solution is sought.

TLDR Review: Interesting concept, terrible execution. Fundamentally the game is bad, the aesthetics is irrelevant. Developer appears careless and lazy. Don't buy the suite of copy & paste games. Click on the Developer Games and look at the list of games and judge for yourself. ------------ 2. Main Review: 2.1. Reviewer background: For context I'm from Northern Ireland and can program using Unity. Since I live in NI I understand what live is like here and what the "essence" of the simulation that the game is attempting to portray. As a Unity Developer I understand how a game is made. 2.2. Technical Review: I'm very unforgiving in this element of the review for multiple reasons. If this was there first ever indie game, I could maybe understand but the developer has been working on a suit of games spanning years. They all fundamentally look the same, even the cigarette burning in the ashtray on the left is the same. The load time as long the developer even has UI text stating this, which doesn't excuse the low standards. I have a high reproduction rate on the game crashing when trying to save. The developer has shipped the unity build with the folder "DO NOT SHIP", which can con…71 found this helpful
Ach, will ye listen tae this nai! There's a decent wee game in thon, but rightly nai the oul graphics are pure mingin' and sure the whole thing's a bit o' a skitter when it comes tae tellin' ye whit tae dae. Pure hackit, so it is! I've found a lock o' nonsense that's been dragged in frae some other game - bletherin' on about South West Africa, the United Nations, water projects and South Africa. What's that got tae dae wi' the price o' bread in Portrush, I ask ye? The notion about yer actions affectin' what the folk think is dead on, but it's pure daft tae lump everyone thegither as one public. Sure there were two sides, weren't there? Catholics and Protestants responded tae the peelers and the Army as different as chalk and cheese! Still dae, if we're bein' honest aboot it. Puttin' the player in charge o' the Brits is a brave move, like. I cannae imagine many wantin' tae play as them Provo boys - plannin' bombs on the mainland that kill weans, shootin' fellas in the knees over in the Falls, and murderin' poor souls they think are touts. Mind you, themmuns would be quick tae fire back that the Crown forces were just as bad if not worse, and then we'd be back tae bottles and b…35 found this helpful
Hey mate, look like a great game but video tutorial i badly needed, i mean i grew up in Belfast during the troubles and i still don't know whats going on. Fair play to ya for making it, its a theme rarely if ever covered, so cheers for the development and once i get started i can give ya a few ideas relating to the times.16 found this helpful
Based dev. Don't let the graphics fool you, it's a complicated game with multiple units, logistics and fighting guerrilla forces who melt into the countryside. I applaud this guy for making counter-insurgency strategy games when no other dev will touch the genre. These are needle in a haystack type games. Prob because the combatant is often merged with the civilian population, which makes the subject matter tricky.8 found this helpful
This game is no fun to play because it's so complicated to figure out how to play it. Vietnam 65 is a great fun game, I was hoping this game would be as well. I'm very disappointed with my purchase of this game. Don't waste your money on it.4 found this helpful
