Loved it. Though the single player campaign can get repetitive.
I played this game since beta and bought Red Dragon like everybody else when it came out, and completely stopped playing this series soon after, having played Red Dragon far less and not enjoying it nearly as much. Been playing some older games lately and started playing this again, and realised that for all its extra content, Red Dragon is a substantially worse game, and a clear downgrade when it comes to actual experience. Airland Battle has better and more focussed maps. Red Dragon's maps are too big, and not well suited to this kind of game. Airland battle has better unit and deck options, leading to more distinction, less overlap, and better balance. The difference in AI is night and day. Airland Battle has dramatically superior AI compared to Red Dragon when playing either against the computer in skirmish, or when playing campaign. Consequently the campaign is far more enjoyable in Airland Battle than in Red Dragon. These days the player numbers in Airland Battle are very low so you won't be able to just hop on multiplayer like you could do back in the day. Though I am not currently a part of any such groups, I advise those looking for multiplayer on this game to seek out …
