What Steam players say

Paintbrush Warrior has an interesting core mechanic of switching between blue and yellow paint to solve puzzles and create platforms, but the execution falls short with significant issues including poor controls (forced WASD for right-handed players), floaty and slippery physics, severe stuttering performance, and non-functional achievements. Players find the gameplay concept borrowed from better platformers and feel the overall experience offers too much frustration for too little reward, making it a forgettable entry in an oversaturated genre.

It's got an interesting concept, I'll give it that. Switching between blue and yellow paint when needed makes for some good puzzles/platforming. I absolutely abhor being forced to use WASD for a 2D platformer when I'm right-handed, but the use of the mouse makes that an unfortunate necessity. You'll be cursing the game as much as issues with controls (game or yourself). And the floaty physics, good God. You'll be slipping and sliding all over the place and bouncing off of your paint so much. Modern UE5 games would be jealous with how much this game stutters. Holy hell. I have never seen so much stuttering in my life. And none of the Achievements work either. Far too much frustration for little gain.4 found this helpful

Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This godawful Godot2D platformer has basically no theme that I can tell... you're a guy with a paintbrush. It relies heavily on the gimmick where you can draw your own platforms, which has been done a hundred times or more by better platformers than this. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. There's no English translation for the this, but that's okay. The language of bad products is universal. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game pea…1 found this helpful
