It has literally no instructions on how to play, was clearly thrown together just to make a quick buck, and has glaring bugs that make it nearly unplayable. The fishing 'tutor' you can meet just walks you down a few squares and says "Fish here"... but you're at the wrong square and can't control your character. Then when you fish, you aren't shown how it works. 3/10, would not recommend unless you like figuring out how to play a poorly-designed game with no help.

My friend told me not to buy this game, but I said "Hey it's only like $2.49" He advised "That's $2.49 you won't be getting back". The art style is fun and clean but there is a lack of depth to the characters and there is no story line. The little interaction you have with NPCs are limited at best. Mostly, I found the walk speed to be frustrating and when combined with the movement mechanics unplayable. Others may find otherwise and I'm sure there are some interesting moments in game, but I'm not going to experience them. I think with a bit of additional work it could be playable.

RPG Maker strikes again! Paul's World is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker, but at least this one eschews the high school anime club fan fiction for... well, pretty much no cohesive story at all. Is that an improvement? As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development or for profit. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or …

Paul’s World, developed and published by Cloaz Studio, is an indie RPG that attempts to merge survival mechanics, crafting systems, and classic turn-based combat into a single open-ended experience. It carries a clear sense of inspiration from older role-playing games, offering players a sandbox where exploration and self-directed progression take center stage. While its ambition is evident in the number of systems it introduces, the overall experience feels more like a collection of ideas than a tightly integrated whole. The gameplay revolves around gathering resources, crafting equipment, and gradually improving your character’s ability to survive and explore. Players can engage in a wide variety of activities, including farming, fishing, mining, and cooking, all of which contribute to a sense of self-sufficiency within the game world. Early on, this variety is one of the game’s strongest qualities, as it provides multiple paths for progression and encourages experimentation. There’s a certain satisfaction in building up your capabilities step by step, especially when transitioning from basic survival to a more stable and productive routine. Combat is handled through a straight…

This is one of, if not the #1, absolute HARDEST turn-based RPG I have ever played. Every battle is a trial full of hardships and sorrow, but it's important to remember that no matter how dire the situation you can always "Paul" through. The game leads you on to believe that it will be simple and easy, only to subvert your expectations and throw the hardest, most ap"Paul"ling encounters ever seen in a turn based RPG right at you almost instantly. Death is a harrowing concept in Paul's World, as one wrong move could mean PERMANENT DEATH for Paul and his allies. Even if you take some time to do some side quests and play some minigames, you aren't safe, as the game has strategically implemented a feature into minigames called "bright, flashing lights", a technique learned and used by only the most skilled game developers of all time. It's not just Paul the game is picking a fight with, it's after YOU too. This is PAUL'S WORLD, we all just live in it, and I want out.
