Pixel Cafe

It is an interesting cafe management game. The gameplay starts off simple with serving coffee, but it quickly becomes much more challenging as you unlock new recipes, multiple counters, and busier shifts. Each cafe introduces different foods, drinks, and layouts, keeping every chapter feeling fresh. I also like being able to upgrade the workstations to make serving customers more efficient as the difficulty increases. I find it so addictive because every time I think I'm finished, a new recipe, another counter, or a busier shift unlocks. Before I know it, an hour has gone by. The difficulty gradually increases in a satisfying way, so every completed shift feels rewarding, even if I'm frantically trying to keep customers happy while wondering how I ended up running three stations at once! I also enjoy the story, which follows Pixel as she works different jobs while trying to find her place in life. It adds a nice layer to the game without taking away from the fast paced gameplay. I wanted to love this game so much. The music is great! The art is pretty cute. Reminds me of the time management games of old. But the story is genuinely one of the most depressing things I've ever read. I started dreading any dialogue because of how horrific it was. If anyone wants an idea of what untreated BPD looks like look no further than our main character. She needs therapy, a patient friend, and to cut her family off from phone calls and memory, including, if not especially, her grandmother. She is so engrossed in her own suffering it legitimately made me worse and I had to stop playing and get therapy. I can tell the creator is going through it. And I feel for them, but play something else. This is like Evangelion, someone's mental breakdown sold as an entertaining story. For your mental health, don't do it.

I love this game so much! It's kind of a very cozy, and much more forgiving, version of Cook, Serve, Delicious with a surprisingly emotional and good story and that alone made me love it so much. While the gameplay is pretty much the same the whole game over, it gives you just the right amount of variation and challenge to keep it interesting until the end. The Pixel art is very nice and even the slight variations in the dishes are easily recognizable, some colors even have little symbols in them to make it easier for colorblind people to distinguish! I hope the developer will make another game in this style sometime in the future, maybe a sequel or something! :)

8/10 Cute simulator with a mix of a story as you play. It can get repetitive with running the different cafes but it's still really fun if you like to play simulators. I recommend this game to anyone who likes fast paced simulator games.
