About Planet LEV

PLANET LEV MATADERO is an artistic, immersive experience created by Children of Cyberspace and produced by Matadero Madrid and L.E.V. Festival. Available both in virtual reality and for web browsers, this dream-like digital universe is filled with animated sculptures and sound installations by artists all over the world: from massive moving structures that can be explored from every angle, to interactive artworks and portals to other digital worlds. It also hosts live shows and audiovisual performances, acting as a real-time immersive stage for LEV online events.

The virtual scenery has been inspired by Asturian landscape, home of LEV Festival, and its dominant species are the Nimis, sentient beings that are the most renowned collectors in cyberspace. Their love for arts has made them dedicate their whole planet to the beauty of creative expression.

Enter PLANET LEV to fly over its massive cliffs, lose yourself in the canyons, go inside its caves, discover astonishing artistic installations in every corner and interact with its fauna and flora. When you decide to end your journey, don't forget to stop by the desert to leave your trace and plant a tree that will stay until the last cycle of the planet.

Planet LEV is a free experimental art and music VR experience designed for exploration rather than traditional gameplay, with players having mixed reactions to its artistic merit and technical execution. While some find the atmosphere and visuals immersive on compatible systems like HTC Vive and Valve Index, common complaints include clunky navigation systems, unintuitive controls limited to teleportation without smooth turning options, and functionality issues with certain headsets via Steam Link. The experience's lack of clear instructions, confusing interface for accessing features, and abs
Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
This is an interesting experimental art / music collaboration for VR. If you're into experimental stuff, then you might enjoy this. I will say that I thought navigation was clunky and unintuitive. You have teleportation only (where you have to click in on the Oculus Quest 2) and no snap or smooth turning. Starting the experiences is also very clumsy. You can teleport to these pyramid structures then point and click on them with the off-hand (the other hand is for locomotion). Then press trigger. Unfortunately, when I tried the LIVE experience, nothing happened. I assume it was because there was no live experience at that time. There's also no information on when the live experience would be. Finally, you can spawn a map on your hand by pressing the button that corresponds on the controller mapping which you can see if you teleport to these strange signs and point and click and press trigger on them. These are the sculptures with music and they are pretty cool, although the visuals could be sharper. App is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I did not experience any performance issues, but the textures weren't the most high r…

Planet LEV is a Free VR experience that is a planet to explore with Art installations. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. The instructions were for Rift only. The VR movement mode is Teleport. You can also open a map and use that to teleport. The theme is space. CONS: Using Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link, the movement does not work. Try this world to explore for a little while.

Some cool art here and there, but overall not that interesting. Teleport only movement.

"Planet LEV" is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, "Planet LEV" is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition, related to a larger Spanish art expo called the Lev Festival where amateur artists show off stuff. This is a digital extension of that "modern alternative art" train wreck, and it's bad... even as an art exhibition, it's low poly, low quality junk. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basement. It's true that games can be art... art is where the pinnacles of craftsmanship and quality meet vision and narrative to create an experience far greater than the sum of the parts. This isn't a game at all, and the craftsmanship and narrative are terrible. This isn't making art better, it's just making gaming worse. To clarify why this isn't a game in more precise terms, a "game loop" is the …
