Prima Materia XXV

⠀

Prima Materia XXV has something similar to Mortal Kombat, my favourite 3D fighting game. However, the overall experience isn’t as satisfactory as Mortal Kombat. I’m neutral to recommending Prima Materia XXV but there isn’t an option for being neutral in the game review.

Prima Materia XXV is one of the strangest fighting games I have played recently, and I think that is exactly what makes it memorable. It takes a dark fantasy version of Prague and turns it into a brutal little local brawler where fashion, alchemy and chaos all collide. I really liked how unusual the whole presentation feels, especially with the fighters being based on real figures from the Czech rap and fashion scene. The combat is fast and aggressive, with each match focused on straightforward close range fighting. I enjoyed how immediate everything feels because I can pick up a controller and start throwing attacks without needing to learn a huge amount of complicated systems first. The fights have a rough arcade energy that suits the experimental nature of the game. The local multiplayer is easily the biggest appeal for me. Playing against someone else on the same screen makes the simple combat much more entertaining, especially when both of us start taking advantage of the different fighters. I also like how the gothic Prague environments give the matches a distinct personality rather than making every arena feel like a generic fighting game stage. The alchemy inspired story…

celkom mrdka tbh
