Vacant Kingdom is a bullet hell action-RPG for PC and Mac. Its combat takes inspiration from Japanese arcade shooters, but the story and world are structured like an action-RPG. Bosses will put your skills to the test, but you'll only have to defeat each one once.
In Vacant Kingdom you explore a whimsical yet desolate land and try to uncover the mystery of where its inhabitants went. On the way you'll meet a colourful cast of characters. Like a chef who only knows one recipe, a nefarious wizard who wields the dark power of obtuse riddles, and a robot who is programmed to teach the world about insects.

Exploring the whimsical yet melancholic world is a joy, thanks to a genuinely quirky cast of characters you meet along the way. The art and atmosphere are charming and distinct. Crucially for Deck users: It runs flawlessly. Played on SteamOS via a Micro SD card on my OLED Steam Deck, I experienced zero issues – smooth performance, great controls. Yes, it's short, but that's the point. This is a substantial, polished demo designed to showcase the vision for the full Farewell for a Vacant Kingdom and gather feedback. Considering it's free, the amount of content and polish here is fantastic. Perfect for: Bullet-hell fans, action RPG players, Steam Deck owners looking for a quick, high-quality session, anyone who enjoys quirky worlds and characters. Give it a shot (it's free!), enjoy the challenge and charm.
For a demo have a decent amount of content. I enjoy the puzzles a lot. Nice sounds... But the overall dificulty is a little too much. Just 1HP is painfull!
Hilarious! What a wonderfully crafted game. Shru is such a hidden gem.
