About Proto Raider
Proto Raider is a single screen auto-running puzzle platformer covered in ASCII beauty.
There's so much to do when exploring this colorful and imaginative world. Grab your scuba gear and go for a dive, chill out and ride some waterfalls, or maybe go sailing! Be careful though, as with all wondrous actions come with consequences. You just might drown, get poisoned, burnt to ashes, or turn into stone!
In order to complete quests and collect treasures, you'll need agility, weapons, and special items that give you various superpowers. Most of all, you'll need courage my friend. Fearsome monsters and bosses lurk in this world... and YOU will have to defeat them, grab the key, and go!
Unusual platformer with levels that look like ASCII code. Visuals are original. Levels rather simple require to grab some key first then proceed to the exit while avoiding dangers. Character auto run so the only action is jump. Not the worst. Try it if you like platformers.
5 found this helpful

Proto Raider is a minimalist yet remarkably inventive puzzle-platformer that captures the spirit of classic design through its use of ASCII-inspired visuals and one-button simplicity. Developed and published by Puzzle Lab, the game manages to transform its stripped-down presentation into a dense playground of logic, timing, and precision. It tells no story, features no dialogue, and relies entirely on mechanics and environmental cues to convey its challenges. Each level is a compact test of reflexes and perception, where the player’s character automatically runs forward through traps, enemies, and shifting terrain. The task is to jump, react, and adapt in time with the rhythm of the stage, all while navigating an intricate single-screen puzzle that demands both planning and instinct. The aesthetic of Proto Raider is its most striking feature. The world is built out of symbols, characters, and geometric abstractions that evoke the charm of early text-based computer games. Despite this minimalism, the design manages to express surprising variety. Rivers, caves, fire, monsters, and mechanical contraptions are all conveyed through clever use of symbols, giving each level a distinct pe…
Beautiful on the Steam Deck.
This game is way better than any other game I've played! The kind of art it uses is 100% my style. Another reason I love it is because it's hard! Now, you might be thinking: "You'd want to beat it straight away! Making it harder slows you down." Easy levels aren't fun! If you could beat it quickly, There would be no point of buying it in the first place.
