Amazing game with a different vibe, spendy but i think its worth a try
The gameplay is fun, the art is cool, and the mechanics are engaging. However the online play and menus are a little fuzzy. First lobby worked fine. Subsequent lobbies we couldn't get the match started at all either because the game crashed or pressing the start button would not do anything. I also had some weird window behaviour when starting the game, it might be because I am using hyprland though. The game window starts in full-screen mode but slightly offset to the upper left corner. Moving the game to a new empty workspace and toggling full-screen off and on fixed the issue. Aside from the weird crashes / online lobby not working, I found some choices to be strange. For example, why does one player in the online lobby choosing the main menu option at the end of a match disbands the entire lobby? In any case, the game itself is fun, when it works. The menus and online play just needs some polishing. It makes everyone playing get competitive. Maybe a online ranked matches could be fun?
Fun game, I like the look and feel of the characters and I thought the tutorial was well made and helpful. The online play is pretty finicky though and the game is prone to crashing, but I look forward to playing more of the game with my friends once that's fixed. I also wish there was a menu option to change the volume in game. Lots of potential though, fun mechanics, enough variety in gameplay and visuals to keep things fresh and fun. Would recommend!
I got this game to play with some friends, and while we ran into some stuff with the menus and connectivity, it wasn't enough to ruin the experience. The gameplay and effects were great and felt pretty good to both see and hear. I can appreciate the cohesive art style and appreciated the effort put into the uniqueness of the ships and characters, along with the text for their backstories and stages, and would really like something more to flesh out the characters or get to engage with their backstories some more. While I didn't have a controller, the preselected inputs were serviceable, but I would have liked to rebind them if I could have figured out how. I think the game is quite worth it at the sale price, and I am excited to follow up with this game on possible future updates, but as of now it's a decent product and has a lot of potential.
While the netcode was a little finicky and I think we may have accidentally triggered a dev menu or two, the experience was surprisingly polished. The art and sound was satisfying and playing with my friends was a good party game that felt like skill mattered. I hope that the developer considers adding a bit more to the experience but the seed of what's here is worth it, especially if you can get it on sale.
I got acquainted with Pulsar Crash at LVLUPEXPO earlier and played with a friend of mine at their booth. I really enjoyed the game there and I'm excited that it finally hit Steam. It's a great game to play locally with some friends - similar to Towerfall. Not much in the way of single player, so make sure to have some friends to play it with.
